At this point I’m just waiting for T-Rob taking to Twitter to “thank Miami” and for him to be publicly eviscerated.
Most likely he’s smarter than that. He knows the game. At this point he’s begging Satan to send the chopper so he can get the **** outta dodge for a bit.

I'm just not so sure.

We have tons of pretty plugged in insiders saying Briles was offered.
- McMurphy is a clown but he's right a lot (been wrong on Miami a lot though).
- The same footballscoop article that alerted us to Candle and correctly claimed Candle was the top guy also claimed Briles was next up iirc.
- Arky 247 guys, who are pretty spot on, reported an offer.
- Chris Hummer at 247 reported an offer
- ESPN claiming Briles was offered

If I had to guess I'd say he wasn't offered, but I'm not entirely confident.
I believe the FootballScoop article said they held discussions. Their new guy has been pretty spot on with his tweets/articles.

Did you not know all 2023 recruits are going to make their decisions next weekend based on who the current coordinators are this coming weekend. If you do not believe it ask some of the posters on cis
Won't there be 2022 guys there? I assumed so but maybe not

I think it's coming down the pipeline
I'd that's announced, then it's all the more likely he leveraged a UM offer into a better deal. If it never comes, then I will have trouble believing Briles turned down the job with presumably more $$$, more exposure, and a top QB for nothing.

Seals the deal? No. But if you all don’t think it’s important for these guys to start building relationships with the staff than I don’t know what to tell you. Look at the relationship skinner and field have, it was the deciding factor. So for this extremely impressive list of studs, we have 3 holes that could have been the start of a relationship. Face to face time too for these out of staters.
The coordinators this year could be head coaches somewhere else next year when these 2023 recruits actually sign. Our season this year will be a lot more important to recruiting them. For the reasons you stated I wish position coaches were in place. At least making the ACC championship game will have an impact on recruiting.

Yeah, that is an ‘I’ for the portal. Good call. It is an ‘L’ right this moment for sure but that grade is incomplete.
While Incomplete is fair and completely accurate I’m changing it to S because the spin job around it becoming too phenomenal…

So to summarize:
Mario was hired a month and a half ago, and in that time we have been able to announce 4 on field coaches--McClendon (WR), Mirabal (OL), Smith (RB), Salave'a (DL). + Feld at strength coach. With 4 out of those 5 coming with him from Oregon. And have publicly (truth or not) had our top 2 OC targets Candle and Briles say no.... On top of that, the best coach from the previous staff that we previously thought was staying was poached by Bama.

Russian Reaction GIF

Candle - No
Briles - No
Brady - looking to stay in NFL
Dorsey - looking to stay in NFL

Ponce - ?
Brian Johnson - ?
Chud - sure hope not

Sean Lewis - make him an offer he can’t refuse!!

I don't recall any insiders saying he was definitively in the mix. No ties to Mario and people just assumed he was because he has a DB background
My post didn't go through last night for some reason, but Cribby's updated original post on December 28th, mentions Mason; in fact, I remember somewhere in the 300's or 400's a pretty detailed conversation regarding Mason's strong resume, then there was some stupid comment about him having a girl kicker, typical CIS spew... but regardless, Cribby is the best insider we have. So I assume/believe it's not just made up smoke as Hoya wants to call it.

I think people are not really basing the current grade off of who we lost, but mainly off who we didn't successfully bring in to upgrade the roster. Every level of the defense could use a talent upgrade. DL, LB, and CB opposite of TRiq. In addition, I believe we could still use another experienced WR and OL on offense as well. However, I'm going to wait until post Spring to see the finished product before passing judgment.
This. It’s not a balance of who came and who left, it is that there were numerous very good players at positions of need that we missed on or didn’t focus on the portal and they went to teams not named Miami.

Portal isn’t done yet, but it appears close to being done for adds before Spring ball/spring semester.
