Meanwhile, Venables put together a rockstar staff. I thought OU would fall off at LR left, but I'm having second-thoughts after looking at that staff.

For better of worse, Mario has a habit of being really deliberate in hiring assistants (see this thread). He was hired by Oregon on December 8, 2017, and Alex Mirabal wasn't hired until FEBUARY 20, 2018!

Just based on that, I don't think we can just assume he's targeting NFL Guys or we're striking out on targets until we know who's hired.

First of all, they technically aren't 'hitting the trail' until early next week due to the big recruiting weekend coming up. If it's Monday and we are in the same position we're in now then go ahead and freak out if that suits you
Probably even Tuesday because Pyburn is unofficial visiting Sunday & Monday

Some on cis will always assume the best and some always the worst.

Coach Kul got hired without the approval of Diaz. Diaz had stints at Texas and Miss. State. And yet Richt saw what he thought was an elite D-Line coach and made the hire. Kevin Smith is a home run RB coach hire. So is Mirabal as the OL coach. So a HC will go out and hire guys that they feel any OC/DC is gonna be more than ok with. The OC/DC will get to bring along analysts or GAs that they like as "their guys"
Cmr hiring Kool isn’t the same as what’s going on now with Mario.
I don’t see hiring a bunch of guys and “expecting” everyone to be cool with it. Too much at stake imo. That’s would be almost like “winging it” and hoping a top coordinator is gonna be fine with whoever they didn’t personally pick

Even Manny brought Banda on with him as a position coach.

I just don’t see Mario doing things backwards unless he knows who’s coming. Or has ran names by the dudes who might come.

Also, some position coaches might want to know what defense or offense they are going to run.
It’s one thing for us as fans to be “doesn’t matter I trust Mario”
But a dude willing to move his family to another city and hope that whoever is hired is gonna see eye to eye with him is another thing.

How many jobs has anyone ever interviewed for and they tell you “btw you don't have manager yet” when we hire him he’ll fill you in in the details”.

Not saying your wrong and I’m right.
It just seems extremely unconventional form the way we be seen staffs get assembled

Not having your coordinators at the big recruiting weekend coming up is a negative.

There may be an explanation for it and that’s fine because the long term is what matters. But as far as this class, it would suck.

It’s ok to admit it.
