Some names to watch before it’s deleted

For those on the Briles train, you realize that 2019 FSU was the #1 most penalized team in the country, right? I watch a lot of FSU and that team was disorganized and a mess on both sides of the ball. Maybe that traces back to Taggart but I am not a fan. I haven't watched Arkansas so maybe FSU was an aberration but color me very, very unimpressed with Briles.

I have no idea who is a realistic OC option but Briles has to be behind Mullen, Brady, Herman if we're ranking candidates.

According to teamrankings.com:

FSU was also the most penalized team under Taggart the year before Briles got there.

What else you got?

Possibly the worst coordinating I’ve seen since Patrick Nix. No situational awareness. No balance. No concern for time of possession. Absolutely no recognition of the limits of his QB and WRs. Dude called plays like he had Andre Ware at QB.

Every single place he’s coached, every single one, the offense improved the minute he arrived and was worse the minute he left. Every stop.

And he brought Kendal Briles with him to change that culture.

It also still wouldn’t explain why Arkansas has made such a huge jump in the offensive rankings under Briles.

You don’t “culture” your way to that kind of leap. You offensive genius your way to it.

LOL . . . so you're telling me that Briles made no appreciable difference then? How is that a positive?!

And, c'mon, that team had Cam Akers. Scoring points shouldn't be that hard. He was a good college RB.

Fanbase know how to split hairs on who should or should not be hired.

Yeah, i'm fine with either Briles or Brady, i don't think it's worth arguing about them. Their absolute floor seems to be Rhett Lashlee which would be amazing for us. Briles does come with one advantage, he's a QB coach which means we don't have to waste time or money trying to find and hire a good QB coach separately, which also means we save a precious assistant coach slot for another position.

They had the worst offensive line in the country, and that's not hyperbole. The absolute worst. They averaged NEGATIVE yards before contact for the season in 2018. Negative. Wrap your mind around that. On an average play, your RB is hit behind the LOS. I saw a stat last night, towards the end of the 2nd quarter, Dalvin Cook was averaging 11 yards before contact for the Vikings against Pittsburgh. Turn and hand him the ball, he's 11 yards upfield before he's touched. At FSU, turn and hand Akers the ball, he's hit in the backfield on average. That's almost difficult to be that bad on the offensive line.

I said he should be our distant 3rd option. And I said he had a gimmicky offense which he does. The way yall are acting you would have thought I said bring back Dan Enos before considering Briles! LOL. Man some of yall are hella sensitive when it comes to Briles. **** I would take Mullen before taking Briles. So I guess he would be my distant 4th option. But whatever.
Why do you consider it gimmicky?

yes. I’m saying the fish rots from the head.

And Briles significantly improved their scoring.

You’re just trying too hard here. This was the team whose offensive line the entire country was laughing at for a year. And continued to laugh at during that season. And then continued to laugh at after Taggart was fired.

You wanted Briles to do what with it?

Improve it rather significantly from 2018, which he did.

And then watch it decline in 2020 after he left, which it did.

Just like every other job he's ever had. FAU, Houston, Baylor, FSU, and watch Arkansas **** the bed next year too if we can somehow be lucky enough to get him here.

who would’ve thought briles would rile up cis

every OC does that people who had a circle jerk over Enos, view as a “gimmick” offense.

And these are the *exact* same arguments that were made at the time. ****, I remember saying I thought the Enos hire sucked and wished we hired Briles.

And all I heard was that Enos is a “big boy offense that you win titles with.” 3 years later and it’s the same argument.
