"The programs with the top 10 assistant coach salary pools in 2021 were Clemson ($8.5 million, 10-3), Georgia ($7.925 million, 13-1), Alabama ($7.805 million, 13-1), Texas ($7.725 million, 5-7), Texas A&M ($7.612 million, 8-4), Ohio State ($7.501 million, 11-2), LSU ($6.97 million, 6-7), Oklahoma ($6.445 million, 11-2), Auburn ($6.44 million, 6-7), and Oregon ($6.001 million, 10-4)."

Assuming that these numbers are accurate then 8 million would put us at 2 in the nation. Granted that there are other private schools like USC out there that don't have to report their numbers. We finally have the money, now we just need to polish up the brand and we'll have our pick of top tier coaches.

Here it is in black-and-white. I think you were the one who’s believing what you want.

You’re making a lot of assumptions.

We actually don’t know what our assistant pool is, since we’re a private university. That’s just what one “source” said.

Bama also can probably reel in coaches for less money, since Bama has the best talent in the game and provides better career opportunities right now. So it doesn’t mean they have less money necessarily, they just might not have to spend as much to get the same coach. But they could if they have to.

We do know Bama has a much bigger donor base. And they get a much bigger split of money from the SEC than Miami gets from the ACC. And they generate much more money from ticket sales, merchandise sales, etc.

****, the Alabama boosters bought Nick Saban a $4 million dollar house lmao

If you think we’re gonna outbid Bama, fine, believe what you want. But it’s laughable.

May be wrong but not sure it works that way. I think the setoff is for on field only so it you take an analyst job you get the $3M plus the $100K. That would seem to be the only reason not to take an on field role since you are then getting more money rather than just what you are owed. Of course each contract could be different

Would depend on the contract. General contract principles allow any related job to be set off, but if the contract specifies on-field only, then an analyst could double-dip. HC jobs probably do specify on-field, allowing a guy like, say, Urban Meyer, to double-dip if he becomes a TV analyst.

Believe Herman has 2 more years on his Texas payout (half on firing balance over 3 years?). Big consideration for Herman .. is getting STALE by not being active in football. So better to be working than working as "an advisor" or TV analyst. That might put him in consideration. Would be nuts.

Yeah, depending on the length of time, I would imagine that guys do not sit there counting down every single day. At some point, by Year 3 or 4, you are probably OK financially to just take the haircut and get back in the game. I think it just depends on each person's contract, the $, the duration, the limitations, etc.

What’s up with TRob? I find it odd that he hasn’t been announced, especially after an Assistant S&C Coach was.

I don't, particularly if the POSSIBLE option/consideration to leave would be "someone offers me a DC job". In that case, Mario probably doesn't want to Mario himself (guy takes job, leaves after 3 weeks for a better job). Yeah, I can forgive, but I don't forget.

This is a trend with Mario. He dragged out his hiring and he’s dragging out the hiring of assistants. I’m ok with it if we get the right folks but i fear we may not get the top guys due to indecisiveness.

Why do you think it is Mario that is being indecisive?
