Very vanilla and blah showing thus far, no doubt. They aren’t being aggressive at all, OL doesn’t look good and this is worst game that I’ve seen from Jefferson too. I’m still team Briles though, one below average showing without their best weapon won’t sway me.

Brady is an even bigger wild card than Briles. The guy has literally be an OC for 2.5 seasons and only one of them was in college. He's living off of that one, granted historical season, if we are being honest
This is definitely true, but an intangible I really like in this hypothetical scenario is Brady will probably be hungrier; what I mean by this is it's no secret he wants to return to the NFL, and he's got tons of doubters already based on 1.25 years with a terrible and often injured Carolina offense. He comes to Miami and balls out in 1 year, maybe 2, he's back in the NFL.

If we are waiting for a OC who is coacing today, hopefully its Kevin Wilson at OSU. Dude was the architect of one of the best Offenses in modern ball at Oklahoma in '08. What he did at indiana was impressive also, he is at Ohio St. now as OC but Day is the real OC and calls the plays. if we got blank check we could get him and he checks alot of boxes alot talk about here. He already flamed out as HC so we could keep him awhile, he has experience of running uptempo explosive offense, coached Heisman level QB, got guys like Gresham involved so his offense highlights TE. '08 team had TWO 1k rushers so he runs the ball. Maybe a pipe dream but yall told me we got money now so guys like this is what I would expect if Joe Brady and Lebby are off the table

Would be an absolute home run hire. He's a helluva coach.

11th in rushing offense
32nd in total offense
42nd in scoring offense
31st in yards per play (most important stat IMO)
23rd in offensive efficiency (FEI)
Outside of the top 50 in 3rd down conversion % (big red flag)
Outside of the top 50 in passing offense

There are some good things to like here but let's not make like Briles is even on Rhett's level
Lmao

That would be crazy. And would never happen.

help me understand how Arkansas has less than 200 yards and 7 points at half and whether I’m to use the eye test or stats to rationalize my take…

Can’t wait until these hires are announced and the reactions here….

Arkansas is 20x less talented... You know what, forget it. I am done with this. Its a waste of time.

Arkansas is missing a bunch of starters, including their first-round WR.

Penn State also has a top 10 defense. Just a quick FYI.

So no, its not an awful take for a team who is supposed to be below .500 to be ranked #21 because of their offense.
I am a Briles fan but this is misleading. The Penn State defense is missing 6 starters who opted out - 2 DL, 2 LB, 1 S, 1 CB. And, they are missing their defensive coordinator.

Yet, PSU is making Briles's offense look pedestrian.

Again, I wouldn't be upset by any stretch if he was the hire but to say that we'd 'regret' not hiring him if it ended up being someone else is ludicrous
Tell me you dont have a clue without telling me you dont have it.

Might be because Arkansas isnt talented but oh gosh what do I know? Lets listen to the dude who watched one half of his offense!

Arkansas has a TOP 35 offense despite having a lack of stud skill players. Briles will have TVD and some really good chess pieces to work with here...
Guys have the worst talent in their division plus playing in the hardest one in College Football and all they do is have their first 8-win season in six years without a QB who can ******* throw the ball.

Some of these takes are mindblowing.
