Mario has literally said he will tailor his approach to our players down here, and some of you are worried he’s gonna run the ball 70 percent of the time? You think he never watched a down of ours with TVD playing? Cmon now. Let’s use our heads
I hope your right!! just conversation no need bashing

2019 Oregon play calls:
444 Pass attempts (apps 47%)
497 rush attempts (appx 53%)
58 Herbert runs (sacks, scrambles or designed??)

They won 5 of 12 games by 4 scores or more.

This is a fair gauge

He had a QB who went top 6 in the draft two years ago and approved of an offense that turned him into a big-armed game manager. Dinking and dunking their way down the field while leaning on the OL. A good run blocking OL. Something he doesn't currently have at Miami. So if someone has concerns about what type of offense he'll run they are justified in wondering.

Who cares what he said in a press conference or interviews? He aint hired anybody officially yet and the product isn't on the field. His track record as a P5 coach is out there for every one to see. Now we wait to see if the OC he hires is allowed to put together an offense that plays to the roster's strengths.
isn't the offense basically made except oc, mirabal, mcledon maybe maetro rb coach?? what I've seen on this board idk if all true

That's an exaggeration. But if you look the past few years with 2 different qbs, one being a top draft pick, his offenses do average more run attempts than pass attempts.

Pretty much. Thats why you have to hope that the OC hire is a guy who can adapt, evaluate the roster and be given the control needed to put together an offense that pretty much ignores what they did at Oregon. It won't work at Miami in year one 1. We gotta hope Mario ditches that philosophy as a whole in total honestly. Very hard to win at a high level that way without an overwhelming talent advantage.

What Michigan is doing this year considering they aren't an elite recruiting team is an outlier and Harbaugh has been there since 2015 but credit to him for getting over the hump.

I mean it makes sense with the type of QB he had this past year. Plus a stable of very good RBs. Hard not to run the ball when your QB can’t throw

If you control the line of scrimmage, a byproduct is a good run game. What does it hurt to run more? Opens up the passing game. That's when TVD can sling it...
Be careful making too much sense on CIS

qb's best friend is a good running game. I know passing is more exciting but balance is most optimal. If we can do both equally well, what's the issue with that?

Yeah, but if you look at his offenses with Herbert he still tended to run more than throw. Still did not hurt Herbert's production and was a top pick despite running it more on average.

I would love balance. Would make the passing game more lethal. Just have my doubts unless our OL is vastly improved this coming season.

He has, by his own words, the best QB in the country. Why take the ball out of his hands? He won't.

Cristobal has been in his ear about staying closer to home and Brandon Inniss is listening.

“I feel good about them. I like what they are telling me so far. I can’t wait to see how they run their offense,” Inniss said. What that looks like is to be determined, but Cristobal is making it known that he expects South Florida’s top receiver to be excited about it.

“All I heard was that I’m going to like it,” Inniss said.

We go back to Mario focusing on the trenches. We're not going to be all finesse with a trench bully as HC...

That aint the point. Will Mario lean into something that isn't the strength of the team just for the sake of balance? If the team's best attribute is TVD throwing the ball why would you limit those chances and let the opposing defense off the hook? This isn't the late 90s-mid 2010s NFL.

Alabama threw the ball 44 times coupled with three Bryce Young runs and ran it 22 times with running backs against Georgia. Does anyone believe Cristobal would be willing to take that approach or would he want a more even split simply because he believes in running the football? We're gonna spend money like we want to win titles. The HC has to be someone who understands how to do that. Hopefully he learned more from Saban than just his recruiting plan. Saban will adapt his philosophies and do what it takes.
