- TRob left for Alabama
- BMac left for the reigning national champs and his alma mater
- Candle was on the verge of leaving his HC job to be our OC
- Dorsey will be an NFL OC within weeks
- if Brady says no, it’s only because he’s dead set on staying in the NFL
- it looks like the only place Schumann would’ve left UGA for is Miami

None of these are concerning to me. I wouldn’t even call them misses. If anything I’m surprised we’re even in the conversation with a few of these guys that us and most schools would typically never have a chance at.
Miami better get use to this. It’ll happen every year with our staff. This…..is the new Miami.

Some time you have to eat **** and do things that you don’t love to get ahead and move towards your dream job. Not to mention, you get paid **** well to do something that you hate in recruiting for a few years. Seems like it’s not so painful to get paid a couple of million dollars a year to wipe some noses and kiss some ***. Not to mention, he doesn’t really need to do squat. His next three QBs are on campus. He just needs to win to keep the job relevant for someone else.
Nah recruiting doesn’t work like that. you Have to love it bc you eat breathe and sleep it. if you don’t completely buy into recruiting it comes across In how you sell and kids pick up on It. If a dude csnt sell, he can’t sell.

So Joe Brady figured that his path back to a OC job in the NFL is better served by being a QB coach in the league instead of an OC in college? I don’t get it. He puts together a magical season with TVD as his guy, someone will take another flyer on him. May be two years with TVD most.

He coaches up Fields and people will want ii to be a qb coach elsewhere, not an OC. IMO, he’s crazy to take another non-OC job over being an OC in college (yes, the BOB switch at Bama could happen too but I am talking about the Bears QB coach job right now).
IM WONDERING DID HE EVER REALLY HAVE TO RECRUIT. FOR HIM NOT TO LIKE IT SO MUCH. SEAN MCVAY AND THESE YOUNG GUYS RUINED IT. EVERYONE THINKS THEYRE THE NEXT. THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THIS SCENARIO. THOSE GUYS PUT IN THE TIME AND WORK. BRADY WAS ACTUALLY FAST TRACKED.

Does he really need to? His road is paved (TVD, Garcia and Jacurri). Let Mario sell. Let that be known up front. Let him be the obscure dude behind the curtains Belichick style. Give him a three year contract. That is probably good for both sides. Bring in Whipple as the QB coach and have him recruit for both of them and groom into the next OC so when Brady bolts, we have the heir apparent.

Agree. That’s what I think. He was with LSU for a year and Joe Burrow was handed to them (and was not as highly regarded as he has become…even though he transferred from the Suckeyes). Who did he have to spend time with in their living rooms?

You are posting from different era...nowadays, every single coach on staff needs to be very good at recruiting talent. If this isn't true then your team won't sniff top10.

CO-OC/WB coach? Head OC in waiting? I don’t know. Pay both. We will apparently have left over funds from when we don’t hire a costly DC with the way that things are going. I’m just frustrated that Brady couldn’t see that we have a good opportunity for him to jump in to get himself back to his goal. This is a decent two way street option for him to thumb his nose at.

We talked to Hurtt too but he was never offered the job. Reaching out to gauge interest doesn't mean the job is yours. Just like coaches interested in a job reach out.

I know the narrative you and others want is we're missing on a lot of guys but there's only a couple people that could accept Oc or Dc so far. I know this post won't help with some peoples thinking but it's the truth. Carry on.
No Cribby. Any facts that contradict my subjective world view are incorrect and should be considered lies.

How much recruiting did Brady do at LSU while being there that he hates it so much? Just curious as to how strong of an opinion someone could have formed in such little time.

Maybe he just doesn’t ever wanna go back to college. He spent what a single season there. He may rather just take an nfl gig vs a college one. Some dudes prefer to just coach and have unlimited time vs dealing w 18 year olds
