Remember when every single day for weeks it was shoved down everyone's throats how stupid they were for wondering why Manny wasn't fired yet because OBVIOUSLY they were waiting until December 2nd when his buyout went down and they HAD to hire a new AD first so they could fire him? And then, well, not one single ******* ounce of that was true in any way, shape, or form in the end and not a single person to this day has any explanation for it? The now daily force feeding that we're waiting for high level Bowl games to be over to hire OCs and DCs is starting to sound just like that.
I completely understand, we all want to find out sooner rather than later (or at least get the rumor mill going again). As tedious as this process has been, there are still big name schools who have large vacancies (A&M DC, LSU OC and DC, etc.) Clemson and UF filled their openings quickly, but Clemson was all internal hires, and UF filled out position coaches (OC is Hillbilly Napier, DC is his man from Louisiana-Lafayette).
Now I will say, the "bowl game" excuse is just that - an excuse. It hasn't stopped LSU from publicly going after Cinci's OC, Josh Gattis's right hand man Steve Casula being hired to UMass, Dan Lanning leaving to Oregon (yes, I know HC is different than coordinators), etc. I'm not arguing that Mario should have made his hires already, more so that I hope he isn't putting all his eggs in certain baskets, only to end up empty-handed on his first couple of choices.
What would negate the post above, however is this: who knows if Mario has already agreed to terms with certain candidates? I have my money on that at least one of the coordinator positions has already been agreed to, just won't be named publicly (like Mario's situation back in late November).
In the end, all we can do is trust him... he certainly has far exceeded expectations in terms of recruiting at this point.
