It can make a significant difference in what you actually take home. Especially in states that have graduated-rate income taxes. In a state like Georgia, the highest bracket is only 5.75% and that's for pretty much everyone making more than $7000 a year. But Iowa, for example bumps everyone making over $75k to 8.5%. Minnesota is almost 10% for anyone making over $160k. Don't even get me started on California or Hawaii.This. The whole state income tax stuff is weird to me. When you’re making 500k+, that’s just noise.
If we're talking about a 10% or more of your paycheck going to taxes or staying in your pocket, it's a big deal.
