Today is January 20. If Mario hires an OC this week, it will still be in line with the ANNOUNCEMENT DATES of all of his Oregon coordinator hires (not retentions) with the exception of when he fired Leavitt in February.

Can we please stop Human Centipeding this ridiculous "Mario took forever to hire coordinators at Oregon" myth?

No they cannot stop the myth cuz then they have to admit that this is reaching unnecessary territory
 
Either way we are taking some Ls in regards to perception right now with two OC candidates supposedly turning down the job, no DC candidate emerging publicly and losing top recruiting DB coach to Alabama. Now, once we hire some coaches none of this will matter and if we have a great season it is a total afterthought

IIRC, they had a difference of opinion on something, it grew into a verbal spat and Addae, dared to defend himself in front of others. That embarrassed Kirby.

Portal is an L right now but that’s subject to change; this wave has talented guys, we just need to land some. Anyone who thinks we’re having success in that department is seriously delusional. We needed guys like DJ James, Verse, Jones, I could go on…you can say “oh MaYbE MaRIo DiDNt WAnT tHEm MOpe”…he wouldn’t have offered if he didn’t. It’s ok to admit current drawbacks with his strategy while still having hope for a turnaround.

If anyone can alleviate that issue, it’s Mario…but we do need more immediate impact guys from the portal, especially on defense. Still have plenty of hope…but whoever said the majority of more talented guys are in the portal now, whereas the Spring guys are the ones who can’t hack the starting lineup or two deep…I mean there’s a lot of truth to that.

Another caveat with this search taking so long (now that people outside Miami are picking up on it)…the sooner this is done (not rushing it, but if there are guys supposedly hired in the shadows, don’t really understand the wait much longer), the sooner Mario can get to analyzing the roster and building a plan for the Spring; that includes eyeing positions of need for the portal.

Mario spent 6 weeks interviewing and courting Candle and Briles only to be turned down/not offered. Eek...

And we don't have a DC, so I imagine something similar is going on there (can't get his top candidate or two to accept).

And we have 3 positions coaches for our biggest recruiting weekend in a long time.

Not sure how anyone spins this positively. But I remain hopeful. Get the right hires and no one will ever think about the Great Wait.

Not at all imho, Mike said Miami did not offer him the job before Candle turned us down. Not after.

How do you know that those are the only candidates interviewed? Because you read it on twitter?
