Ok let me clarify this; Mel Tucker had a much more experienced and impressive resume than T-Rob currently does; the argument (to my understanding) we are having relates to whether or not T-Rob's move to Bama fast-tracks him to a HC job. Maybe a little, but it hasn't worked for any of the previous three DB coaches that Alabama has hired. Mel Tucker's 1 year at bama alone did not get him a HC job. Tucker was a DB coach in the NFL for three seasons with the Browns, then defensive coordinator for seven seasons on various NFL teams. THEN he came back and was an AHC/DB coach for Saban for one year, and even then he didn't become a HC; it took him three more seasons at UGA as DC/DB coach to land the Colorado gig.Wth does Mel Tucker being a Dc at Chicago one year have to do with Bama? Tucker was the DB coach at Bama. Just like T Rob is now more than likely , with maybe a co dc title or ahc title. He was also a dc at a sec program. Bama has the magic sauce at getting you head gigs and if that's what you want the decision makes sense. Anyone that knows him knows that's his ultimate goal. Regardless if you think that's possible. You're telling another grown man he's wrong with making a decision for his career.
Tbh I don't even know what we're debating lol. Will he get a big HC job one day? Likely not but you're crazy if you don't think he could get a head job somewhere down the road. A lot stranger hirings at HC than him has happened.
I think Scott wants some type of DC role IIRC from their board. I can’t remember if it was just co-DC or play calling as well but UiF has a playcaller on D already.Yes, he’s one of’em.

Because Raymond is less of a threat with Napier than TRob was with Mario. The timing on this is not a coincidence.Mario obviously knew this was a possibility.. TRob has been out recruiting but hasn't been announced as being retained yet. all the other coaches have been announced who for sure have on field jobs.
I'll bet DVD and Fields have been told they both have jobs but whether they're on field or not will depend on what happens with the rest of the staff..that's why they haven't been announced yet.
Sucks that we could have had the best DB coach and recruiter in the nation but lost him to UF of all people because TRob said he was staying..Mario knew it was a possibility obviously and he still got burned. When he knew it was a possibility with TRob he should have made him commit somehow or cut him loose and got Raymond.
Why didn't Saban go after Raymond?
This is gonna be someone profile pic.
You’re talking about what area the new hire will have connections to and I’m sitting here wondering if we will even have a db coach hires by march…It’d be nice if our next CB’s coach had Texas ties...
“The South FL CB’s coach” has pretty much been a failure at Miami for years now, multiple regimes too.
UF or Bama, easy choiceKarl scott is a texas guy, no? Thought it was weird when he reneged on UF, wonder what he's looking for
No argument but clearly he is betting on himselfOk let me clarify this; Mel Tucker had a much more experienced and impressive resume than T-Rob currently does; the argument (to my understanding) we are having relates to whether or not his move to Bama fast-tracks him to a HC job. Maybe a little, but it hasn't worked for any of the previous three DB coaches that Alabama has hired. Mel Tucker's 1 year at bama alone did not get him a HC job. You know more than me I'm not arguing that; I'm just trying to wrap my head around how DB coach at Bama = HC, when everyone knows Saban is the daddy behind the DB position. Karl Scott hasn't sniffed HC opportunities, but he got a chance to work in the NFL. Derrick Ansley hasn't sniffed HC opportunities, but he's with the Rams right now, sure. Jay Valai made a lateral move (if that) to OU.
T-Rob's resume is peanuts compared to them; he failed as a DC in his only major coordinator gig. He's sniffing glue if he thinks he's HC material at this point or even DC-material at a P5 school; but that's a completely different argument.
Again… I didn’t hear it as he outright told Raymond no. I was told that we were slow to react and the gaytors were already on it. Sucks but that’s what I was told and that was at the time Raymond was announced to UiF.Oh, 100%. Hindsight is always 20/20. I'm just saying, if you say no to Corey Raymond, you better be **** sure you got somebody better on lock. And I'm not even getting into the better argument, let's just say someone at least comparable. You don't say no to Raymond if there's an inkling of a chance you're left holding your **** in your hand.
Yes, he’s one of’em.

This comment is not going to age well. All he did now was **** off Mario. TRob isn’t pulling a single recruit out of South FL for the next 10 years after this lol
Now we’re talking. If Mason is the DC, I’m fine with Chance.Chance was a QC coach at Vanderbilt under Mason fwiw
Clearly the Raymond stuff was in the 11th hour with UF and even if Mario reciprocated interest, there still would have been no guarantee he would have come. Then you risk alienating/losing T-Rob and jeopardizing signing Graves and Rodgers right before ESD. No win proposition.Again… I didn’t hear it as he outright told Raymond no. I was told that we were slow to react and the gaytors were already on it. Sucks but that’s what I was told and that was at the time Raymond was announced to UiF.
Is TRob a religious man....cause his dbacks were holy last yearSafety play was bad. Freshman showed some glimpses but Hall and Bolden were terrible before having to throw the freshman into the deep end where they (understandably) made numerous rookie mistakes.
What position would he even take at Bama?UF or Bama, easy choice
and Belk overlapped with with both Mario and AAR at Alabama. There's a reason why these names have been mentioned. Now we’re talking. If Mason is the DC, I’m fine with Chance.
