He's offering a top 3 in the country salary and Miami is loaded with talent on the offensive side of the ball including a Heisman candidate. I can't understand why hiring an OC would be anywhere near a struggle.

Why do you assume it is? Or has been? Or isn’t going exactly to plan?

I don't know the details of Herman's contract, but I believe it's common in some contracts for the University to be relieved of paying ANYTHING once the fired HC accepts a new job.

So if Herman accepted a job at Miami, Texas might not have to pay any more buyout money, regardless of Herman's contract size here.
I always thought it was contingent on it being rhe same level of position. Like another HC job. I rember Charlie strong worked for like 500k year one at South Florida and made Texas pay out his salary from previous contract. The 500k was deducted. I wanted Herman as my #1 choice. Great offense big time recruiter. 2 guys behind TVD are athletic and would benefit from the power spread. Who know what he picked up in the NFL.

I'm not sure tbh, but each contract is different and depends on what Texas/Herman negotiated. Texas could have negotiated a contract where they are relieved of any obligation to further compensate Herman if he accepts any coaching position in college or the pros. So it could be different than Strong's contract.

why? got butt hurt that he actually went on and spoke his own words recently and it wasn't exactly roses. everyone on here told you the DC hire would be an issue with some recruits if it wasn't done prior to NSD. it isn't the same for all recruits (like Kelly, Moss) but it is for others (like shemar). both he and Mo have said the same about the DC stuff. nothing has changed there. macho even confirmed it. Shemar may still come to UM bc he loves UM and loves Mario and I have faith in Mario on the recruiting side BUT if he can't get over not having a DC in place and we had 8 weeks to get one, then yes we failed in the recruitment. fwiw, it wasn't like we never even spoke to the kid prior to Mario. we were recruiting him and DVD has a relationship there, but we had zero shot bc Manny sucks. Mario is why were back in it.

I'm always amazed at what people hear and accept as gold. I don't believe anything these kids or their handlers say. If Stewart really wants to play at Miami, he doesn't have to sign on Wednesday. He knows he has a spot on any roster he wants. If he's not willing to wait for hires, then he is probably not really serious about Miami anyway. I personally doubt he comes here, but I hope I'm wrong.

Although it is taking awhile, I think it's simply because he's shooting for the moon with candidates. It's much more important that Mario gets these hires right. There's already enough talent on the roster to win most of our games, he just needs a competent staff. Too many of you are focused on the 22 class, but there's not that many realistic targets left anyway. relax

He said something recently…along the lines of “it would be hard to commit” without knowing who was going to be the DC.
Yeah - Manny did an interview with him (not his handler) where he basically said the same thing about not having a coordinator would definitely impact it. It was on his Wide Right podcast.
