That's not all that was said:

Candle wanted Toledo to promote his replacement from within the existing staff. I am assuming he believed that would guarantee his guys, or the majority of them , would be retained. The school wouldn't do that and there were no spots on Mario's staff for them. He didn't want to leave them all hanging. He chose to remain loyal to all his guys and stay.

He must be in an interesting position there now if that is all true
Should be interesting to see how that plays out for him. For right now all I care is how the next man up (besides Briles since he shot himself in the foot with us but got his raise…enjoy Arkansas) works out for us, whomever he may be.

Talk about wanting your cake and eating it too…

Do you consider any show or movie with white folks getting into the drug trade to be a rip-off of Breaking Bad?

Ozark seems pretty different from Breaking Bad to me. Motivations of the characters are different, the family dynamic is different, there is no Aaron Paul character, the dynamic with the cartel is different, etc.

So basically yeah, white family who you wouldn’t suspect to be drug kingpins become drug kingpins. That’s the similarity.
Well the Byrdes aren't actually in the drug trade. At least for a majority of the series. They’re just money laundering for the actual drug dealers but yeah I don’t know how anyone can watch the show and not be see an incredibly strong resemblance to Breaking Bad. There really aren’t any other popular shows I’ve ever seen that are like that either. The seasons even break down in similar fashion where just as it looks like it’s going to be smooth sailing, a new character comes along and throws a monkey wrench in the entire operation and Marty spends a majority of the rest of the season fixing that issue. That problem gets solved just in time for the end of the season and a new problem to show up. It’s a really good show but the writers clearly watched Breaking Bad and said “we can do this too”.

Besides, Ruth on Ozark is the way better version of Jesse from Breaking Bad. I spent the whole series waiting for someone to finally kill Jesse. I want Ruth to be the last one standing at the end of Ozark.

Maybe he’d change his scheme up for us but lets hope we dont get that Coen dude. I want to run the ball but i need someone almost opposite of mario’s philosophy, it’s unlikely but South Florida is not a smash mouth football area. We probably would win still because mario is gonna get the elite talent but dont put these athletes in a box, that’ll be a huge mistake.

First I’ve heard that and that’s not what was posted which is why I replied.

Liam Coen is a name I would have expected Manny to consider to replace Lashlee

Based on the hype and expectations established with the Mario hire…. Not gonna lie I’d be disappointed when looking at his very shallow resume

I’m tired of the nfl and cfb treating any coach remotely connected to Sean mcvay as the next coaching genius

I know Coen had a strong year at Kentucky but that was his 1st year EVER coaching in P5 and only his 3rd year calling plays (first 2yr at Maine)

I’m quickly starting to realize things are taking extra long because Mario is working down his list of options and not because he “is extra thorough”
I would say Coen is probably on par with Jason Candle. He had a **** good season with Kentucky and has 3 years of experience in calling plays. That’s not nothing. Ryan Day and Sean McVay are the big influences. Take all day.

At this point I’m somewhat prepping myself for an underwhelming hire so if it happens to be Coen then I’ll actually be pretty happy.

It's highly concerning that we cant hire an OC with the TVD and "the biggest budget in the ACC."
If it is Brady and Belk then those are big time hires. I understand why Brady could have taken some time due to him wanting to he in the NFL. I don't understand waiting on Belk though. Hopefully it ends today because the staff being in place for this weekend and NSD would help.

I won’t argue with you on a topic that is subjective. But Candle wasn’t my favorite option but I don’t think you’d find very many people that for Miami OC position, would consider Coen and Candle as equals.

Also, I know that USA today article connected Coen to the Ryan Day coaching tree…. But I think that’s a far stretch and something closer to 6 degrees of separation rather than my definition of a coaching tree.

Regardless, you and I are in the same page that it certainly feels like we are trending more towards a lukewarm hire that we get comfortable with rather than a slam dunk hire

I say this and wouldn’t be surprised to see Brady hired within 24hrs

Who knows
