Why would Sean Payton want to go to Dallas and deal with Jerry making all the decisions? I gotta think he has a better plan then that.

I don't think he's stepping away from a Hc role to become an OC at a CFB program
Yeah me either thats why I didn't insinuate why he was stepping away us or anything. The pipedream part was a dead give away to the fact that I dont actually think it will could or would happen

Yea the law of averages was on his side after his hiring failures …you hire enough guys you’re bound to get a decent one by accident if nothing else..
I mean even enos was highly regarded out of Bama when he hired him. it just didn't work out due to a number of reasons, one of them being style of play vs the talent on the roster. also, Gotta give enos and lash credit here -- they brought in TVD, Garcia, and Brown.

This dude's #1 attribute is his integrity/authenticity. I would be beyond shocked if, by Friday, his message to kids (both recruits and current players) is "I've hired a bunch of guys who are going to coach you. But I can't tell you who they are. If you're on the fence to come here, just do it, cause, yanno, you'll like the guy. Cause he's definitely hired. But I just don't feel like telling anyone."

Can't see this happening at all.
From what I was understanding it was meaning he is telling recruits staff is 90% done. If he is saying it is 90% done and will announce by Friday then I misunderstood what was said, sorry.

True story.
But I suspect this exception is due to Nick Saban having alot of leverage on young coaches looking to climb the ladder. Saban is in a position of going after coaches and recruits and laying down when they jump aboard..otherwise he has other folks on his list ready to jump..the law of supply and demand.
the NSD out of respect nonsense is nonsense. Kevin smith was announced already and he had landed a top end RB transfer at Ole Miss literally days before he left. we didn't wait till NSD there. I just think we don't have the guys formally agreed to (or informally)

Man I don’t blame Payton at all for stepping down. What a year that team had.

1. Started the year on the road due to the hurricane
2. Had a massive Covid outbreak that required them to play a game with basically not coaching staff
3. Had their starting QB blow out his knee.
4. Dealt with all the Covid restrictions.
5. Had his star receiver in Michael Thomas basically quit on the team.

Man I’d be done too

yea hes going to fox.

hes got three years left on his saints deal so he'd have to get out of that contract before going anywhere else.

Yea if Jerry wants him bad enough a couple / three number one picks ought to do it…Payton knows when to haul ***…no QB,team waaaaaay over cap and not much in the way of offensive weapons…Best thing Saints can do is trade him to the Cowboys.

"Approve" was perhaps too strong a word. All I meant was BMac is a big enough fish already that Mario's not gonna bring in a Coley or Ponce to call plays, not that Mario needs BMacs approval.

Cunningham improved from 7.1 yards per pass attempt to 11.6 (‘19) and 8.6 (‘20) under Ponce, and threw 42 TD’s with 17 INT’s in two seasons. Cunningham added another 13 TD’s on the ground over those two years, as well.

Back at App in ‘21, Ponce worked with the struggling three-time transfer Chase Brice. Brice was abysmal during his one season at Duke. While under Coach Cutcliffe in Durham, Brice was fumbling snaps, looked scared in the pocket, and threw 15 INT’s with only 10 TD’s. In his one season with Ponce, Brice improved from 6.2 yards per attempt to 8.6, and threw 27 TD’s with only 11 INT’s.
Ponce propaganda
