New DC target: Wink Martindale, former long-time Ravens DC. Sauces say Mario loves him, even willing to wait to allow his current contract with the Ravens to expire a YEAR from now. Coach Cristobal has the best looong-term interest of the Hurricane program in mind, and though radical, the prospect of pushing through the '22 season without a defensive coordinator could prove to be a long-term gain. I for one support Coach Cristobal's loooong-game approach. Go 'Canes!

He went to a way better program where he can prepare himself more to be a DC and eventually a HC.

He handled it like a coward by telling our players, recruits and their parents he was staying but the move is not as crazy as people making it to be, we just bias. I wish he stayed but he gone so we just gotta move on, it wont be the last coach that’ll leave in the mario era

In honor of @LeedsCane and as an homage to the Tenth Doctor Who, let's bring down T-Rob's reputation with just six words. Six.

Poaching recruits after quitting isn't acceptable.

Dang. I had to google that one. Didnt even know what it was.
It sucks man. They gave us those ****** 3M plugs in the AF and working on jets all day ruined my ears. Not just working on jets, but having B1's etc. take off next to you all day without proper ear protection. I can't hear my wife 1/2 the time and get bad ringing multiple times a day. I thought it was bs at 1st, but it sucks.

How the **** yall reach almost 1100 pages on this and we are no closer to figuring out who we hiring. My last visit it was 950 pages i have no idea how to figure whats the new leads here. Lol smh
I fully believe the intended purpose of this thread was having a thread for slurpers to slurp, mopes to mope and off subject posters have a home

Eh it wouldn’t be weird if you only have a spot or two to fill. We have half the staff or so still left to fill. Only one of the current confirmed staff is an outside guy that didn’t come over from Oregon. We are def behind in the cycle, but well see what happens when we do finalize the staff. The conspiracy theory that it’s done and he’s just waiting for Easter is stupid. If the staff was done and you’re waiting then why did you formally announce the Oregon guys and smith. whats the point of waiting a month to announce your st coach lol or te coach
Well, Id say we are behind if we compare ourselves to most other teams hiring. The issue is we all went into this with different expectations I was expecting to have the entire staff in place by signing day. That was my personal goal. So sitting here on 1/22 not knowing every staff member yet doesnt seem like a big deal. Any earlier would be gravy. Many on this board had expectations of much earlier which is causing some of the knee jerk freakouts. Building a staff can be tricky. The puzzle needs to fit. If one DC has a particular expertise in say coaching LBs it would possibly change how we build the staff as opposed to if the DC was a DB specialist.

Mario Im sure has interviewed and prepared to build the staff accordingly as the puzzle comes together, having multiple options and can go in different directions. He has options. But its a 2 way street. If 1 guy says "NO", it could change part of the puzzle with other staff hires and that could add another couple weeks to the process until the final product is complete. Doesnt seem weird to me....yet. I'll reserve judgement once I find out who we hired and hear the backstory of how it all evolved.

I Think I have this all figured out since Mario clearly does massive planning and 8D chess moves. He’s waiting for this thread to get to 2022 pages for the symmetry.

so 1000 to go. It’s in our hands. Speed it up boys. I gotta pee

**** bro. Well thank you for your service. That seems pretty ***ed up that they couldnt provide a better set of headgear for those near all the noise. WTF. We spend billions of dollars with gov contractors to build some of the most useless **** and as a taxpayer, I cant even get my brother some decent headgear. SMH. I really hope that has changed.

Sorry you have to deal with that. But maybe only hearing your wife 1/2 the time isnt the worst part of your situation ;)

I know this is a very difficult concept for some on this board to grasp....but the timing doesn't matter.

It matters that he absolutely NAILS the coordinator hires. I don't care how long it takes, use this newfound ample budget and bring us two savage coordinators. Any short term appearance of chaos or slight detriments to recruiting mean NOTHING in the grand scheme of things. We aren't going to win a natty in 2022 regardless....so better to take your time and get the absolute best coordinators that money can buy.

I like the fact that he aimed high on a current HC like Candle for the OC spot, I have no issue with that rejection. Keep going that route....I can think of several current HC's that JUST MIGHT be at the crossroads in their respective careers where a step down to coordinator could make sense. I have a feeling Mario is thinking along those same lines.

Spent about 26 years working around jet engines. Not hearing my wife half the time is on the plus side.

I hate that for you, I fit hearing aids and with your military service and the crappy ear plugs that they gave you, you should be able to get top of the line hearing devices from the VA, you earned and deserve it. Thank You for your service and if you ever want to discuss anything hearing related reach out to me through a PM and I will help anyway I can.

Lol you're right about that last part.

Apparently 3M and the government knew they were defective and still had us wearing them. Unfortunately it'll only get worse as I get older. Ay the end of the day I'm lucky though. There are a lot of people that served and ended up with worse. It is annoying that they issued us faulty gear though.
