Given Briles’ reputation as a seedy character, which appears to be well-earned, and the fact Cristobal is placing a heavy emphasis on character, it still seems more likely to you that Mario offered him as a second choice rather than Briles is playing loose with facts to extract a raise out of his current employer? To me the second option seems much more likely.

As an observer, it feels like the recent announcements that the previous coaches are gone or in off-field roles would signal that hires should be happening sooner rather than later. Patke gone, Simpson gone, DVD off-field. Just an observation.

You're my boy but when it serves the program best? I can't for the life of me figure out how announcing it now would hurt the program. I don't get the need to drag this out any more than it has been already.

So the staff is done except for one position, but unlike the other hires they’re not announcing them individually. And they’re holding the news until AFTER a major recruiting weekend loaded with 5 stars. And the news of these coaches being hired by Miami hasn’t been leaked by anyone at Miami, their agents, or the schools/NFL teams from where they’re coming from. I want to believe but…

I want it to make sense but I simply can’t come up with a single reason for it making sense.

It's ok if you can't. You don't have to. Just because you don't know something it doesn't mean the people in charge don't know something. We're not part of this process.

Maybe they want to announce the coaches this weekend at the event? Maybe Mario is trying to time the announcement to take full advantage of a specific news cycle? Maybe he wants to do them at once and one guy needs a minute to announce for some reason? Maybe by playing his cards close to the vest he's actually f'ing with an opponents staffing effort? I dunno. I don't care. I came up with all that in 10 seconds. Imagine what else might be out there? :) All I care is that we get a great staff. Mario doesn't F around, I can tell you that much.

I can't imagine sitting around knowing I am not inside, and thinking it's a good idea to throw crap against the wall when the answers are all forthcoming. ESPECIALLY, when, as @Brooklyndee said, all you are doing is feeding the trolls and creating negativity around the program. Do no harm.
