Some game thoughts- "Peaceful Easy Feeling"

Once I mention one kid, I have to mention another....and another.....and another.

That was literally a complete team effort on defense out there. One thing though I will say is our young secondary has superstar power. Jenkins is still young at the spot, but like Deon, are just playmakers waiting to happen. We are headed back to the days where the "safety" position at Miami is a meaningless term.

The 4 man DT rotation of Porter, Robinson, Renfrow, and Pierre has me very excited.

throw Chickillo in there once and a while as well. real position IMO. But overall, that D-line has improved significantly.

Did we avoid the middle of the field because we wanted to minimize risk of throwing INTs, which often happen when testing that part of the field? There has to be some explanation. The Gaytors successfully ran some underneath drags against us. I'd love to have seen us run those routes. Or is it that Morris just missed reads in that part of the field? I gotta say, the offense for Quarters 2-4 had me baffled. UF's defense is legit, a top-5 unit maybe, but WTF, they're not the 86 Bears either.

I'm too excited about forever owning the Gators to get down on Coley, SM, or anything else. But if the Gators truly have 3 first round corners to go with all the first-round front seven guys talked about on the board, it will be the worst draft(s) in history (at the very least in terms of my viewing pleasure).

Hargreaves is a pup, so tough to tell how much more he'll develop. Roberson is pretty close to a 1st rounder, if not a surefire 2nd rounder. Purifoy is a legit 1st round prospect.

While it's no surprise, Hargreaves is an absolute stud. True freshman with an interception in each of his first two games. And it's especially impressive that he is getting playing time in that secondary.

That would be a great question to ask but our local media will not have the mental capacity to ask such a question. Instead they will ask about the NCAA, Manziel and feline AIDS.

Regarding the two point conversion attempt, couldn't agree more. Arrogance and stupidity in action. He demonstrated same by going on fourth instead of taking the three. Remenicient of BobbyB"s arrogance early in the Dorsey/DanMorgan/Shockey game. We had'nt beat them in 5 years and Bowden showed his **** early in that one too.
So happy to own these chickens FOREVER! Al knows he can say whatever he wants to now, FOREVER! Nothing they can do except change their chicken nature and play us. Something that they can't do b/c..it's their nature. Al is smart enough to reiterate that he'd love to keep playing them. Something he can do going forward anytime anyone says the word gator to him.

I have been wondering the same thing, we need to start testing the middile against Savanah St. and through the rest of the schedule to open up the deep routes.

I was struck by how many upperclassmen played on the defense. Porter, Gaines, Green, Robinson, Renfrow, Gilbert, Cain, Gaines, Rodgers, Highsmith. This was a veteran group.

I'm sure you meant to include him but Tyrone Cornelius played his a$$ off on Saturday!

Great post.

One thing I have noticed, about half way through the flash forward, is the LBs played down hill and made many plays behind the LOS.

Armbrister seems to have taken that step and I hope to see him to continue to improve, especially with another year to play.

Also, on the Jenkins INT, visions of Mo Sikes flashed through my mind.

Been thinking this too. We got that early lead and seemed to almost shut it down and just wanted to hold on. Not a fan of that, and that's the type of thing that would **** me off if we ended up losing, but we got the W, and it's got me thinking/hoping that the offense is not necessarily as inefficient as it appeared. I think it'll be important for the offense to develop rhythm and confidence throughout the next few games though

People on here called renfrow a bum after the FAU game and I saw NONE of that. Buddy is the best backup DT we have had probably since 05'. He's not a superstud but he doesn't have to be. Just play solid enough to give guys like porter the rest he needs.

???

I remember the announcer saying Renfrow was already closing in on a career high in tackles in the FAU game, jokingly, but lauding his play.

Any JAGs who clowned him are idiots.

Armbrister is a sophomore, so two more years. Which is extremely exciting.

The overwhelming theme that I got from this win is the values that Golden has instilled in this program are firmly entrenched with this program and will be for a long time. Things like toughness, heart, never quitting and playing your *** off until the whistle blows. We simply wanted it more out there and with all these kids sacrifice in the offseason with UTough etc. everything Al has done it has certainly paid off.

Oh, and shouts to our 2 big time transfers. Renfrow is a plug at DT and Gilbert has been legit since he got here as well.

One thing about Cornelius is he knows how to play the option. He played the one and only gator option play to perfection which caused a TFL. He will be big for us against the bugs.

I'm excited that our defense has done so well without Deon Bush even playing yet. With the bye this week and Savannah St. next, I expect him to be back for a warmup game in 2 weeks and full go after that. Him and Rayshawn back there will be nice.

James Coley definitely needs to do a better job but some growing pains are kinda to be expected I guess. Florida is the best defense we'll face and it was game 2 so, moving forward, I expect better.

Canes did much more jawing than we have seen in a while. They played with an edge and didn't back down an inch.
