So which is it?

saban year 1= 7-6
golden year 1= 6-6 (bowl ban)

saban year 2=12-2
golden year 2=5-5

19-8 for saban
11-11 for golden

Guessing Saban didn't have multiple players that were seeing a significant # of snaps per game (like Luther Robinson) or were starters for god's sakes (like Eddie Johnson or even Gabe Terry on special teams) that just decided for one reason or another not to show up for practice.

idk what saban had. google it if you're interested. I know his record speaks for itself.

Saban's record is like just about every other coach: when he has the overwhelming best talent on the field, he usually wins. When he doesn't (see Michigan State, see Miami Dolphins), he loses his fair share like everyone else.

If you guys can't se how unique our situation is then IDK what else to say.

People keep bringing up Saban and it's not right. Saban would demand 20 million a year to come take over this hot mess we're in.

Since we are on our third head coach and nothing looks like it is improving. We have seen this year after year with different head coaches and coaching staff. So fellas, is the coaches or the players?

This is our first HEAD coach in about a decade.

So Coker coached between 2011 to 2010?

I'm guessing you meant between 2001 and 2010, but please correct me if I'm wrong. But my point is that between Butch and Golden, we had 2 long time assistants that, let's face it, were WAY over their heads. I think it was the coaches and that with a bit of time, Golden can return us to relevance...even if the path is a rocky.

I don't get why people compare other HC to other HCs in terms of records from different years.

I am sure Stanford is glad they didn't give up on Jim Harbaugh

2007: 4-8
2008: 5-7
2009: 8-5
2010: 12-1

Sometimes this happens, sometimes programs give an HC an opportunity to fully implement his plan. Now Golden, I don't know what will happen but the admin will give him 4 years at least especially to lead us through sanctions.

Or Virginia Tech and Beamer. He won 5 games his first 2 years combined and was 2-8-1 in his 6th year. Bobby Bowden was 4-7 in his 5th year at West Virginia.

He also didn't make a bowl till his 7th year at VT. Many coaches didn't rape the competition to start off and are considered elite. Also, sometimes it takes time to learn. Here is a funny example.

_____________ in 1995 was starting at Michigan State University at 44 years old (today he is 61 and the best coach by far in college football).

1995: 6-5-1
1996: 6-6 (oh no regression)
1997: 7-5
1998: 6-6 (oh no regression)
1999: 9-2

**** happens, people take time to develop their program and implement their plan. Will Golden do it, I don't know. It took Nick Saban 5 years too show real success at MSU.

I am giving Golden a pass this year, next year I start to really need SERIOUS IMPROVEMENT. But let's see what the NCAA has to say. The best think Golden can do is develop kids and load the cabinet (i.e. RECRUIT HIS *** OFF).

I'll add:

Jimmy Johnson -Okla State: 7-4
3-7-1
7-5
4-5-2
8-4
