So we are asking fans to attend fewer games?

its not like fans go to the games when they ask

so maybe they are doing the opposite to see if it changes

That's what I was thinking as well, maybe a little reverse psychology. It's a weird idea to me.

regardless people wont show up and its very sickening, because that stadium can be filled, though it does suck and its far away it is really encouraging to see most of the stadium packed but thats miami for you bandwagon to the max

Agree that Miami is a bandwagon town for fans. Wish I lived closer to attend more games, but it's a long trip from NY state.

Every game that I would be likely to drive the 220+ miles to attend in person are on TV. I stopped doing that drive several years ago just because I had a better experience by staying home and watching HD TV games all day long. I know that makes me a bad fan, but I'm not alone. HD TV is the game changer.

The only game I've made it to was the OU game in 2010 and it was an awesome experience even though it was nolife stadium. My biggest regret was not making a game in the Orange Bowl, our true home.

The fact that we have to do this type of thing to get fans to attend games.

This blows my mind, right here.

If I can go to the game, tailgate, and be there live and in person to support the team--I'm gonna be. If I can't--then yeah, HDTV is the way to go to take in a Canes game.

But to bypass actually going to the tailgate/game that you can make easily IN FAVOR of watching in HD on TV? That's just lame.

I agree with BW here, but to be balanced I know some older die-hards that now do the same and some of it had to do with the majority of noon games.
TV, specifically HD is hurting attendance in all sports from what I've read, especially the NFL.

Mini plans like this aren't new. UM and other schools have done them before. What is new is the dumb****s in the administration going as far as to pay for ad space in local newspapers telling people to "go to less games". I'll repeat that...they spent money in advertising/marketing this plan where they used coming to less games as a positive thing.

Its unbelievably tone deaf. Like we don't get ridiculed for this **** enough and have it beaten over our heads by rival coaches on the recruiting trail. You know how easy it is for a coach to just tweet a link to that article or DM it to a prospect on twitter? It makes us look so god**** small time like a pathetic Mom & Pop program.

If they're die-hards, they're going to be there if they can make it.

I understand circumstances not allowing you to go--I wanted to go to that crazy OT game at GT a couple of years ago, and didn't get to because of budget season at work. I had tickets/hotel, and had to ship the tickets to a friend of mine to use and cancel the hotel. I didn't know until Thursday of game week that I couldn't go. It sucked, but I just couldn't make it work.

But for me to be basically standing in my living room looking at my TV, nothing else planned, money/tickets/accommodations in place, and decide to stay home because of a Noon kickoff and an HDTV is something I just don't have the wherewithal to fathom. It's just nuts to me. I'd go to some ballgames just for the tailgate alone.

I do understand the HD hurting attendance though--I've read the same articles you likely have on that subject. I know what you're saying. It just doesn't apply to me, and I feel like lots of others would use that as an excuse not to go out of frustration with the program...which to me, is weaksauce.

I've been to lots of games. I went to 22 games in the OB in one year, and that was before the Dolphins. In my lifetime I can't even count the total I have been to. Being there just doesn't have the appeal that it used to. And, it has nothing to do with the state of the program. While I still lived down there I never missed a home game during the ****** 70s. That was a different time in my life. That was a time when my interest in Canes' football trumped everything. Not so much anymore - win or lose.

i think the appeal of being there has died in every sport.

I can understand that. Just do me a favor, though--and next time you are able to do the 220'ish mile trip to a Canes game and don't because it's easier to watch on TV--keep me in mind, knowing that I'd switch places with you in a heartbeat if I didn't live all the way up here in VA.

I represent hard on the road for the Canes because I love the program and the school, but also because I know that it's harder for folks from FL to trek up to the rest of ACC country every week...so I'm there not only on behalf of me, but for those of you who would like to be there but can't. That's how I look at it...and if you can reciprocate that sentiment for the home games--I'd be much obliged.

And for those who want to say "well, just move to FL"...it's not always that simple, guys. I'm established where I am, and I make what games I can, whatever time/distance/money/work allows.
