So am I supposed to believe Duke weighs 196?

You gotta think about it. A lot of these kids, when in HS, either don't have access to a weight room/program or just aren't made to use them. They get back in HS by natural abilities. You take someone with good genetics, drive, and something to prove and give them 2 months in a solid program with access to all kinds of weights and foods.... They can gain 16 lbs in 2 months. It is not far fetched.

pretty much. in high school you're eating cafeteria food and aren't exposed to any kind of proper workout regimen. that's why i always laughed when people here would accuse other schools of roiding up in a player gained 10 lbs. in one offseason. most of these kids haven't reached their ceiling physically and once put into a proper program can put on pretty good weight quickly. you're now seeing the same at miami with golden's emphasis on nutrition.

I put on 10 pounds of good weight in 2 months during the summer between my freshman and sophomore years of college just following the workout program and eating right (and a lot). And I promise you that I was already much closer to my physical ceiling at the start of the summer than Jamal Carter is currently.

****, I put on 15 lbs on a 5 day cruise. You eat food, it happens. What is the issue?

That's what happens when you eat more than mustard sandwiches.
 
I posted a pic of him a few months back and he was about 5'11" 190lbs that day. He really didnt lift that much in hs. He has been putting in the work now.

His weight has always fluctuated. He was at 215 last summer before he dropped a lot of it before his season. He weighed in at 205 when he first stepped on campus in May

Saw him in person yesterday....if you told me 215 I'd believe it.

You also have to take in account their economic background. I had a friend in highschool who's mom only fed him and his brother TV dinners. Both were great athletes. Once he graduated and started working and feeding himself he put on a solid 20lbs. He always said if he could of done that in highschool he'd been able to play college. He was 6'3 165lb back in the day. I believe it's possible with the right guidance and plan in place to put on quality weight without losing your speed.
