We have scored on the first or second possession of the game in EVERY GAME this season
Our first drive scoring percentage is 80% (6 TDS and 2 FGs)
The Vt game we fumbled on the first possession and scored on the 2nd
The Cal game was the only game where a team made us punt on the opening possession all year long and we did not go 3 and out
Let’s just be consistent with the criticism
How about this? A lot of three-quarter "Intermittent Offense" efforts, requiring heroic, epic, fourth quarter efforts.
I can't recall the year, the team or the QB for sure - but we used to do some of the same crap - BUT - if I recall, we marched down the field in just short minutes with simple 10 yard quick passes.
The hardest thing in sandlot football to defend - is what used to be called the ButtonHook. Take off like a stripe-azzed ape, stop, turnaround - and catch the ball. First Down.
Next play - maybe another receiver - but the same thing.
We have the QB. We have some good hands to receive.
So why do we have to run these highly predictable routes - and why do the receivers seem to have to out-run the defenders?
Why not do some radical trajectories? A stop, turn, and catch.
Don't have to get crazy - going for the whole enchalda - just pick our way down the field.
They start to defend that - then there will be open receivers;
We MUST start taking what the defense give us. The Defense sucks pretty much - and I don't know why they even take the field the first three quarters of the game - if they're going to do the same ****, the same way, at the same time.
I didn't play football. But I was on a team with a 150:1 win/loss ratio. We telegraph the bulk of our efforts - and that will lead to zero time after time.
