Slaton Update

Still think he comes

I wonder what the Rumph haters will say?

Is this serious? First of all, we are hating on his recruiting, not his coaching, so it's not just "haters" but "recruiting haters." Second of all, the guy was hired from a school stacked with Division 1 talent and has yet to land a single one. Meanwhile, a guy like Baez, who is not even an assistant coach here, locks down everyone from Gulliver with little to no drama.

Now that we are potentially going to land a recruit from the school, with the main reason being because he was dropped by Michigan, we are supposed to stop saying his recruiting has been sub-par? That's just asinine.

I honestly don't understand how people defend his recruiting. Yes, kids say they like him, but does he get them to come here? So far, no. End of story. If I get Jessica Alba to say she likes me, but ultimately not **** her, then who really cares? We are not in this for moral victories.

You're saying there are two Div 1 prospects on the Heritage roster? Even if I was just talking about 2017 that would not be true.

That went right by you didn't it. Don't forget I create recruiting threads bud and know there's 4 we're actively after and it's very possible there could be another 2 by next fall because as y'all forgot, I know more about our recruiting than most on this board

"He can't recruit", "his own players won't come here because he's here"... lol sh*t is hilarious. Another note this is Patrick surtain's 4th home game that he has attended at Miami this season.i don't even think he has been to a fsu or uf game at all. Definitely think miami has a shot especially if we are talking about the in state schools

You gals are ridiculous. Already crowning Rum for signing the first guy out of 10 from his HS even though the guy isn't committed here.

Pump him up some more for his incredible recruiting! He's killing it because Michigan doesn't want Slaton, and we made his top 5.

Sorry, didn't mean to downvote.
It's sad that we've come to a point of loneliness on the totem pole where we're excited because a recruit got dropped by another school.

What entittles us to hand pick top recruits nationwide? Last time we were relevant these kids were sh*tting their pants. Slaton is 100% talent upgrade for our current situation and should be hoping we land this kid not moping because Michigan a top 5 school in the country has he pick of the litter. You cant take everyone obviously some really good linemen will be "dropped"

Harbaugh got Michigan into elite company fairly quickly.

Yeah, I know you follow 247 very closely.

Lmfao most of the stuff I posted after I stopped doing my threads wasn't from 247. Nice try though, you want a cookie for your efforts?

I was even giving out scouting evals but I guess that's from 247 too lmfao

Preach it. Some of these dudes can't handle any sort of real talk about UM.

Who cares if Michigan "dropped" him? They have the luxury of hand picking the best linemen nationally with Harbaugh and Slaton is an immediate upgrade to our line. We need to land this Slaton and this Gaynor kid who plays mean and with a chip on his shoulder. We need these hogmollies like them to compete for the coastal and for the playoffs

We don't know Meatchicken dropped him we just know what a porster reported and then muggars ran with it...

As good as CMR is he is and will not be Harbaugh. ANY FOOTBALL ORGANIZATION whether it be college or NFL would empty their bank accounts to get him to lead their teams right now. Cmon man be realistic we need 2 cycles at least then maybe we can start saying the "e" word

True. That 4 game nose-dive was avoidable to me. With 1-2 losses, we'd be a paper tiger but we'd have a lot of momentum going into recruiting.

After all of the speculation and platitudes about incoming freshmen McDermott will be out opening day LT next season and he will do a good job.

Collegiate coaches are currently dispersed all throughout the country in hopes of leaving their mark and replenishing their roster with top-shelf talent on the recruiting trail, and one young man that's certainly highlighted as a top priority for a countless amount of schools is Tedarrell Slaton.

Slaton, a 6-foot-4.5, 341-pound senior out of talent-rich Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage, is labeled as a five-star prospect and the nation's second-ranked offensive guard for the class of 2017.
"I have an in-home visit at 8:40 (p.m.) on Monday with Florida," Slaton told Scout. "I like their hard work, compassion. They have passionate players and a good coaching staff.
"(It's) all what I'm looking for."

Like many South Florida natives, Slaton says Randy Shannon is the Florida coach that's been constructing a relationship with him over the past year or so.

That bond between both parties has certainly strengthened over time, and now the mammoth offensive lineman will welcome Shannon into his home before the day is all wrapped up and in the books.
"I talk with (linebackers) coach Randy (Shannon)," Slaton said. "I've just been talking with him on a daily basis and trying to get an official visit set.
"I get a lot of videos from their practices and stuff. We just talk about fun stuff."

All eyes have truly been on Jim Harbaugh's Wolverines since over the summertime. Close friend and teammate, Kai-Leon Herbert, is verbally attached to the school residing in Ann Arbor, and Slaton also raved about his time on campus after attending August's Barbecue at the Big House.

Slaton is a kid that hasn't traveled out to many college campuses, so the Wolverines have really done a nice job of staying persistent and not taking their foot off the accelerator.

"I talk to Michigan every day," Slaton said. "We're just in the communication part right now. They're looking forward to me getting the scores and up for a visit as fast as they can.
"I like the coaching staff, and I've built a good relationship with all of their coaches."

Slaton is just days away from competing for his third class 5A state championship in four years, so it's understandable that Herbert has let up on recruiting him with a business trip to Orlando being their sole focus at this time.

"(Herbert) is not really focused on that at the moment," Slaton said. "He's just focused on getting this state championship, and I understand how he feels because he doesn't have one yet and I already have two.

"So he's just basically focused on that."
With all that being said, has the nation's 34th-ranked player overall penciled in any of his official visit dates?
"None at the moment," Slaton replied. "I'm still waiting on my ACT scores, and then I'll set my visits."

Slaton isn't ready to serve up a clear-cut leader in his recruitment, but lists Florida, Michigan, Miami (Fl), Ole Miss and Tennessee as schools in the thick of things with National Signing Day less than two months from now.
"Everybody is pretty equal with me," Slaton said.
