Maybe this thread should've been in the WEZ, hope it's not misplaced and sorry if it is, but I really got a good laugh out of this, and it is in a way related to Miami Football, so there it is:

I am from Montreal, Canada. Huge Cane fan, unfortunately hadn't found a good way to follow the team as much as I would've liked because of the distance and lack of interest for CFB out here before I found CanesInSight, which has been a blessing for me. Love everything here btw, ''Good job, good effort'' as ya'll like to say down in Miami lol. No but seriously, thanks for everything.

Anyways, getting to my story now. As you may very well not be aware of, there is a league called the Canadian Football League here in the grater north. It's a weird game related to football in many ways, but in which they play on an enormous field, with 12 players per side on the field and 3 downs instead of 4. Weird, I know. The players are a heteroclit mixup of Canadians, ex-division 2 or 3 players and a few ones from div. 1. Tonight was the league opener, and I had to pinch myself when a player received a punt for the glamorous (lol) Saskatchewan Roughriders, and the announcer called his name: Sinorice Moss. Just couldn't believe it, hadn't heard his name in years it seemed like, would have thought he had been either retired or on an NFL practice squad or something. Seeing him in the CFL really made me chuckle.

So that's it, I saw it as an opportunity mostly to thank all the guys out here who pass out great info such as Dmoney, Peter, Larry, Los, etc. and everyone who make this place a great one for intelligent, undertanding and educated (and sometimes quite darn funny) conversation on Miami Football, all the while sharing a Canado-Miamian tale, which doesn't happen too often!

I was pretty excited to see him come to my G-Men. I thought he'd would of amounted to something in the NFL.

Hello to my fellow Canadian Canes Fan..

I work for the Toronto Argos and coach a high school team in Toronto. There are a couple canes and well-known UM recruits from years past playing in the CFL. For example, I'm hearing Anthony Reddick is tearing it up for the BC Lions and is inline to receive a nice raise.

Hopefully Sinorice sticks about for a bit. The canadian game really suits his skill set

I like you guys bacon..what happened to your soda clearly canadian? it use to be very good but i cant find it anywhere? ANy info would help thanx

Im a huge fan of CFL and the Alouettes. I grew up watching the Alouettes and the Canadiens with my grandfather who was from Montreal. CFL is a great game, very exciting to watch.

Yeah, I follow the CFL just enough to keep up on former college stars who play in it - or non stars that played at UM. Sherko was up there for a while - might still be. But yeah Reddick was that dude who I felt real bad for. Was in line to be a big time guy before getting hurt that first time. Even after that I thought he'd be real good still. But only so many injuries a body can take.

although my favorite guys to watch in the CFL go back - first that man Tamarick Vanover when the CFL was trying to make US inroads with that Vegas team. And more recently Michael Bishop. Used to love watching him at K State. He had that rocket, but would spray it all over. I saw him I think last year or the year before when Montreal brought him back to be an emergency back up. That dudes look like he's been on some steroids or something. His biceps were insane for a QB.

He didnt have the accuracy, arm strength, or mobility... I know some of you guys will be upset hearing that! The CFL game is alot different than the NFL game. Your QB has to be deadly accurate (Anthony Calvillo) or able to scramble and throw on the run (Almost every other QB lol). KD is held in high regard in the CFL and if he wanted to ever coach in Canada, he'd have a job right away.

Hello all! Bonjour Maxime. I am simply replying in response to a woefully innacurate and degrading descriptor of a phenomenal professional football league.

First, Max makes several allusions toward CFL football being weird, the players being a bizarre collection of div 2 and 3 guys with a few div 1. The obvious direction Max wants to take you is toward a conclusion that it is inferior football made up of less-than athletes. This is the boggest crock of bs ever perpetrated in these forums. Not only are his stats way off, the idea that div 1 is the only div that produces top players has been disproven endless times. Most CFL players are div 1, some are div 1 sub, a few are 2 and the Canadian players typically come from Canadian universities. Generally, it takes a few extra years to develop a Canadian player simply because they do not play as much football as their US counterparts. BTW, more than 10,000 football players graduate US programs each year, very few will ascend to pro ball of any type, disparaging any athlete that plays even arena league ball is ridiculous given the massive compettion. It is a lot harder to make the CFL than it is the NHL Max, the numbers prove that.

The CFL definitley looks for players with different skill sets than those demanded by 4 down ball. While 4 down ball is a very structured game with no separation between down lineman playing on a small field, size is a huge factor. In the CFL, smaller, quicker skill players are in demand. The CFL game is played on a field that is 65% larger and has 1 extra player .... that creates many additional variables making it impossible to impose the same level of structure as can be done in 4 down ball. So, players need to be able to improvise. Calling the game "weird" is nonsense. Many Canadians have a pathetic need to bash the CFL because they think that notoriety and money are the be all indicators of quality. Do not develop your opinion of CFL football based on this type of drivel. The CFL game is different, degrading it, especially degrading it in such an oblivious fashion, is not giving Cane fans an accurate picture at all.

As for the glamorous Saskatchewan Roughriders (glamorous is another slam from Max, in truth Saskatchewan is a beutiful place but once again a Canadian insecurity has driven Max to bash mindlessly), Sinorice is doing a good job. Going back to Max's assertion that CFL players are a weird inferior bunch, make note that there were more than 20 NFL draft picks in camp ....... very few made the team. As mentioned, different game. Sinorice made the team and he has been returning kicks, doing a decent job. He probably won't see any time at wide receiver but has a chance to stick on the roster for the season. He is enjoying himself and the Roughriders are happy to have him. He also seems like a great guy in the locker room.
