Since Coker’s firing

CMR coming out of the SEC with Florida, Bama, Auburn, LSU winning NC's and having a 75% Career winning record, still befuddles me. He gave us the only 10 win season, but I think the culture was even worse than most of us thought. I pulled for most of them to start - thought the mopes weren't giving them a chance, but became a mope myself - based purely on results.

He didn't get the financial backing he needed, and there was still too much scrutiny on Miami recruiting vs what the boosters could do at UGA.

In the NIL era with the current backing, Richt could have been a great HC. But he would still have to have brought in a much better recruiting staff, and found a better QB coach than his son.

Is this the offseason?

have you rooted for certain coaches we’ve had more than others? Yes, we’re all canes fans but did you feel success in recruiting and winning was more sustainable with some more than others? Personally, couldn’t stand Golden or Diaz (both felt like major frauds and unlikeable) felt really sorry for Randy! Richt and Mario are in similar places of admiration for me.

I never understood the Mark Richt fascination. I liked him as a former Cane, but I never thought much of him at UGa - never could win the big one ever. He came here and had one (mirage) really good season then well, health issues which I think makes some people leery about criticizing his coaching/recruiting.

Golden was a 💩 Once I saw the necktie I was like “oh hellll naw!”
Manny was mierda con queso.
Randy - over his head.
Mario - la segunda viniendo de Jesús Cristo.

The first game of the Golden era I think against Maryland I was ready to shoot that guy out of a cannon. Bend & break D 'Onofrio Efense was offensive.

Never didn't want any to succeed tho ultimately.

Golden was a bad fit. IMO he could've done well at a Big10 school. He inherited a mess at Miami. I've forgiven his allegiance to NoD. Even thinking about stop ordering pizzas to his house after this season.

Randy was in over his head. Manny was in over his head. Richt was past his prime.

All were lazy, cheap, uninspired hires. Typical Miami.

Shannon - had hope specially after that jacory harris start to the 09 season. Thought we had something there, dont know the details but thought he could get something going. Definitely underachieved

Golden - no one has ever inherited such a mess, great talent evaluator as the majority of decent players in the league in recent years were his. Defense and relationship with No'D as stated over and over was his downfall.

Richt - loved the hire. I wish he wouldve made changes necessary, would've loved consistent 9/10W seasons that he had in UGA as we got used to mediocrity.

Manny - hated the hire from day 1, unbelievable we paid a coordinator to learn on the job. I also hated his defenses when he was here and the "havoc rate" while leaving all mid field wide open

I don't think I ever got to a point where I felt like success was sustainable with any of them, simply b/c it was never achieved, let alone sustained. The closest was CMR, but that still fell short.

With that said, I'm a homer and felt some sense of optimism with all of them (minus Manny...I was appalled by that process), but they all revealed themselves, some more quickly than others.

I rooted for every coach. Randy just didn't have head coach in him. I honestly believe that had Golden fixed the defense* , he would have had success here. But his refusal to change coupled with his fixation on Penn State, made me happy he was gone. Manny quickly proved he was not ready to be a head coach. Perhaps he will work at Duke......................

*intentionally vague to avoid debate
