Richt and Mario are the only coaches I really felt comfortable believing in. The rest just didn’t feel right for the job. Surprisingly I didn’t hate Golden until the last years of his tenure. But I couldn’t say the same about Diaz. I hated the hire from day 1.

I’m a tremendous fan of Coach Coker he did a tremendous job the players loved him very much.
He always had the the players best interest at heart .

Don’t root for coaches, just bring me elite players. If you can’t do that at every position then it’s just a matter of time you will get fired. I root for them being able to recruit monsters only. I got tricked with Randy (cause I was young in the game) tbh whether people think so or not none of those coaches could recruit nationally at all. They would get one or two and that’s not going to help at all

With that said, I'm a homer and felt some sense of optimism with all of them (minus Manny...I was appalled by that process), but they all revealed themselves, some more quickly than others.

Richt recruited so, so poorly.

Liked him as a figurehead HC, but he was always destined to fail.

The only one I had zero excitement about was Manny, felt like pure nepotism. Golden had me with the "are you kidding" at the press conference.

I liked them all for 2ish years...I think I gave Randy somewhere into his third year...would have been a great story. Once they leave I could care less about any of them. I try not to hate, or wish death, or any kind of torture that the Wu Tang would talk about. I just dont care about them. Other than rooting for losses and failure if I happen to watch a game they are involved in...but to be fair I root against everyone.

Its a message board...so you have to take stories with a grain of salt but the things you hear that some of these guys did...or didnt do that buried this program is why I could care less about them. Same with many of the transfers.

Zero faith in manny. Most incompetent decision I’ve ever seen an AD make

Richt I was excited but had tempered expectations

Golden I thought I saw a solid future with until I saw D’Nofrio for half a season

Randy I felt could get it back rolling after a downturn for a few years

Mario I always felt would need to recruit at such an elite level to get out of his own way. He has done that plus adjusted his philosophies to an extent and I’m pleasantly surprised by that especially

I rooted for Richt to succeed, but the benefit of hindsight lets me see the weaknesses that I didn't at the time.

Al Golden's loyalty to No'D is such an enormous what if to me in this context. I can't even decide if I like Al a decade later...

CMR coming out of the SEC with Florida, Bama, Auburn, LSU winning NC's and having a 75% Career winning record, still befuddles me. He gave us the only 10 win season, but I think the culture was even worse than most of us thought. I pulled for most of them to start - thought the mopes weren't giving them a chance, but became a mope myself - based purely on results.

Richt > Golden > Manny > Shannon. All had redeeming qualities. We're seeing Golden and Diaz do just fine as DCs elsewhere, Manny now HC at Duke and will probably do fine with the reduced expectations. But the guy can't recruit so he'll never be a top HC.

Favorite coaches included Stoutland, Barrow, Lashlee. Dugans was a bad coach but I got a kick out of his car. Coley and Hurtt were also bad coaches but relentless recruiters. Whipple was fun to watch at times.
