Simple but telling stat

Miami has so much work to do in the spring window

Nowhere close enough to being elite enough to compete for National Title with this current roster

Stacking talent means stacking Top 50 talent every year and no whiffing

Requires elite recruiting that Miami is missing
Our O was good enough to win a title. Our D was just historically bad.

But how much of this is a self-selecting statistic? The draft is after the CFB championship. It stands to reason that NFL teams may have a bias toward guys that won a championship over guys that didn’t.

I’m not saying that’s the reason at all. Obviously, they do go hand in hand. But it is slightly misleading.

I think it's the 4th- 7th rounds where the fringe guys maybe get selected by having some good film in the title games. Those first 3 rounds nfl teams take the best players and rarely compromise on athletic talent. In fact they often overdraft lower production guys with measurables early.

Maybe. It’s not like it’s something that could really ever be truly measured. As objective as all the measurables are, sometimes teams do take players in earlier rounds because they just happen to like a certain player and / or have a particular need.

Appreciate your perspective.

In that case Miami should have won it all in the 2000, 2002, and 2003 seasons.

let me expand that list…..Miami should have won it in 86, 88, 90, 92, 93, 94, 00, 02, 03

Also player retention from going to NFL draft and being 3-7 round picks.

The 2 Ohio State DE's could have been top 100 picks last season, came back. Ebuka and Henderson both came back, both their DT's came back also. I feel like if they were at Miami majority would have left early. They had 8 senior staters on defense.

I can tell you now had Kam and James came back we make the playoffs.
and the year before like 10 guys that would have left us for the NFL came back for Michigan
