Silent Commits and Greentree Dwellers

Ok, and how does your process actually work?

If a kid does not publicly commit prior to some arbitrary date, do you stop recruiting him? If you say yes, I say bull****. If you really mean it, then don't ***** when that kid is gone later.

What is the arbitrary date you set and why that date? What about early peakers and late risers? Sounds like what Texas did under Mack Brown and that's largely what got him fired.

So then your class is done at some point prior to the signing date, right? What happens when one or some of your current commitments leave or sign elsewhere? Umm....."We go get better guys, guys who want to be Canes!" If they were better guys, why weren't they in your class in the first place?

So many draw this "committ or we move on" line, but I never hear any real plan.

It is known that Bogle told the staff he was coming. We’ve been his “top school” for 9 months but no commitment? We needed to pursue other targets and look where we are now. No Solomon and now no Bogle although we have counted on him.

There no such thing as a silent commitment!
If you are not willing to announce it publicly then you are not committed.
Even if they announce it publicly it can’t be taken seriously if the are still taking visits.
Only time you can half way trust a commitment is if the players closed down his recruitment.

How about if he's 1000% committed? Asking for a friend.

One thing that you gotta respect about pinckney even if you don't like his play, is dipping on obvious sellouts halfway through their visits. Pinks ability to read guys is better than over half our staff.

What??? Can you elaborate?

Manny needs to be like Dabo...You commit to us you shut your recruiting down. You want to commit to us, make it public or we will continue to look elsewhere.

enough with this use a Miami offer to up your stock

And when they don't commit under that pressure we move on, right? What is our leverage? We are not at Clemson level now.

So when we move on, we likely move down. When we move down, posters ***** that we are letting all the good recruits get away, right?

Again, what is the actual plan?

WTF is a silent commitment? Like wink wink, yeah coach I'm coming, keep my spot (just in case a better offer doesn't come in).
I agree with that. Oral commitments aren’t binding. If you can’t even get a kid to say it publicly, he ain’t committed at all. We never win the hat game. I wouldn’t play it with a kid. Can’t see JJ doing that.

What 4/5 star recruit wants to come to a 7-6 ACC team that just turned over it's entire offense for ineptitude? You wouldn't do it and wouldn't tell your kids to do it either. None of this is surprising.

That’s almost exactly what Sammy Watkins did when he signed with Clemson.

They were 6-7, and Dabo fires their OC.

That is the exception, rather than the rule. I'm guessing if you go down the list of 4/5 stars from this year, most are signing with programs that are in the top 10.

Tired of this bullsh!t to be quite honest. The new staff better not be letting these South Florida divas prance around our campus without a sniff of a commitment - talking about Stevenson here.

As for Bugles, this kid was never coming, he had every reason to commit and didn't but our staff kept nibbling at the silent commitment schtick. Commit or we're on to the next kid down the street.

Time to stop letting 17 year old kids bend us over backwards.
Ur right, why does everyone scream and holler every time some teenage dimwit play us. Play them, you don’t know, can’t say, won’t tell, FUGOFF. Scratch the name and move on. Canes that wanna be Canes will be Canes, snuff.

We should have had Stevenson and Bogle's replacements committed in August.

Miami plays themselves.

There isn't a lack of talent available...if you end up with small classes, need to be scrambling at the last minute, or taking commitments from two star 240lb App State committed OL in November...you f'd up and its your fault.

No one bends you over backwards, if you dont bend over backwards.

Harvey is a better Bogle. Rique hurt; but maybe we'll luck into Emerson and Banda can coach him up. Gurv and Amari Carter are neck and neck with Rique.
