SIAP Todd McShay Ranks Stephen Morris.....

You think about some of the 1st round qb's lately and I think Morris has more potential than many of them.
Manuel, Ponder, Gabbart with the big arm, slow feet and toughness of a Twinkie. Locker, who as a senior didn't look like he could hit a building with a pass with the building 3 feet in front of him.

Again, EJ Manuel? Coley almost started laughing during an interview when asked about Manuel and Morris.

The thing with Morris is that you can easily see the growth he has made over his career and if that continues into this season like we all expect he will be a very high draft pick,

Which is more likely?

That Stephen is the same QB he was last year...or that he has made substantial improvements?

McShay is excellent but I think he's off base here. Morris doesn't have the touch or red zone instincts to go that high. It will eventually catch up to his rating. At this point the scouts fixate too much on physical traits.

Knocking Todd McShay was in vogue 2 or 3 years ago. The major scouting forums have long since come around. McShay's opinion and sources are now among the most respected in the business. In fact, he dominated the draft coverage on the second and third day. NFL Network was flailing this year. It was easily their worst performance and they took some justified heat for it. It was amusing to read so many posts still stuck in the conventional wisdom of yesteryear.

...the last time you saw him

We've seen Morris drop the ball over a corner and in front of a breaking safety from what looked to be about 50-60 yards downfield in the camp reports. Does that count as touch?
How about those back shoulder lasers we've seen all off season so far? Is that part of a red zone instinct?
We are not saying he's Andrew Luck.
Again, locker, Gabbart, Ponder and Manuel were 1st round picks and they all had serious question marks.

If he can get to a passing percentage of plus 60-percent, that will be huge. For as good as he was at times, last year, he also left a lot of yards on the table

But I really think Miami must have the only fan-base who doesn't think that their own players can get better and improve. Personally, I cant wait to see this new and improved Morris. I think he's the most complete QB package at UM since Craig Erickson....

If Morris has a big year and then follows that up with great workouts he can be a first rounder. He does have a lot to proof and he would not be a first rounder if the draft was today but he is about to have a monster year. He has all the tools, the talent is in place around him, he just has to put it all together.

I like that position, that probably a 10-25 draft pick. Who knows their might be a run of QB's in the top ten and he might get selected. It will be great to be able to room for a pro team because he was a Miami QB.

I'm guessing behind Bridgwater and Boyd.
Neither of whom run a pro style offense.
If you gave me the choice of the 3 to lead our team this season, I'd objectively take Morris.

Since when does Louisville not run a pro style offense?

Since they got a black coach and a black QB who wears receiver gloves on both hands. SMH.

lol Todd McShay and Mel Kiper are clowns.... there opinions on players NFL draft stock are about as relevant as Steven A. and Skip's opinions on anything.

The only reason why Todd even has Morris so high is b/c real NFL scouts have already been raving about him all summer.... S. Morris has the strongest arm and is the most accurate QB in CFB. From what i saw in the Spring game, every flaw that he has had as a QB, last season, has become another strength of his game. Which explains why he went to the Manny Passing Academy and was perfect from every distance in the QB competition.

All Scouts are waiting on for verification is this season.... if Stephen steps up big this season and do what he is already capable of, then he is going to be the #1 QB taken in the NFL draft. BOOK IT.

Who's Manny? The only Manny I know is that dumpy guy who writes for the paper.

People forget we had a lot of drops last season. I look forward to seeing us catch more of those balls this year and his percentage will be up.

Some of those drops definitely are attributed to Morris. If he fixes his footwork and works on his touch this year, he could be lethal.

Just room for thought.

You guys seen how bad Logan Thomas' stock fell after last season. Morris truly could work his way to being the first QB taken if his season is good enough and the others regress.

The thought of Morris being the 1st QB taken in the draft is extremely fapable.
