Overall I agree with your point that it may not matter to the kid who knows but it is significantly closer

Once you get past a couple hours in a car it's no longer viable to be driving that distance regularly anyway.

How close is he with the baby's mom? Are they together? Will she move with him? We don't really know the details. But if he just knocked up some chick and had a couple kids that he isn't overly involved with, then this kid stuff is nonsense.

In fact, if he isn't involved heavily with them and the mom, then he's probably looking for a good reason to get the fck out of Dodge.
