I'm not going to tell someone how to spend their money, but you can go to a game and not eat. You can go to a game and not drink. You can go to a game and not spend a lot on tickets. There are ways to do it.
Don't go to the game, I really don't care anymore, but if you live within 100 miles of the stadium and you don't go, you lose your right to complain about fans, about ESPN dogging us, about other schools dogging us, about our national perception, about recruits picking other schools and citing atmosphere, about the lack of a bigtime atmosphere at games, about any of that.
I agree a lot of this. I don't drink at games anyway.. I'd rather hydrate then buy some half cold $9.00 terrible selection of beer they offer... I was just pointing out that in general, tickets don't usually make up half the expense. As for losing your right to complain about the atmosphere, I couldn't disagree more. It's not the fans fault it's the worst venue out there or that you need a pair of binoculars to see the field from the front row. Worst stadium experience ever. I go to games out of loyalty, not want.
It's not the ob, never will be, but why not make the best of it?
I come from Orlando every home game that is possible.
I not only love the game photography I do, I love the Canes. No place I'd rather be. I've missed two home games and the days were miserable all day knowing I should have been and wanted to be in SunLife Stadium.
Everyone has life "things" that come up and family obligations but the majority of the excuses are just that....excuses.
Pay for the tickets, bum a ride if you have to, this board is full of people that travel from all over the state I'm sure with an empty seat hear or there. And even if you can't bum food off some drunk tailgater there are only about 400 vendors outside of Sunlife giving out free food.
Just get there and support the team you claim to love.
There is a LARGE chunk of Canes fans that have the financial means to make it to home games, but just choose not to.

Financial means isn't the issue... TIME is. Driving to Miami & back home is 8-9 hours round trip.. add in another 3-4 hours for the game & you are looking at 12+ hours at minimum. It's just not feasible to make all the home games.
It's not the people who have to drive 3-4 hours, it's the 5.5 million people who live in Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe Counties. Yes, I know a lot of them aren't Miami fans. Yes, I know a lot are UF and FSU fans, and a lot don't even speak English and don't know what football is, but you can't tell me that there aren't 70,000 Miami fans within 100 miles of that **** stadium. You want to add in 500,000 more people? Add in Collier and Lee Counties on the west coast. They're about a 2 hour drive to the stadium. Add in Martin, and St. Lucie Counties too up the East Coast, they're only a 1.5 hour drive from the stadium. That's another 250-500,000 people. I mean, within a 2.5-3 hour radius of the stadium there are like 6-7 million people. It's pathetic we can only get 40,000 for games, but it is what is, and it won't ever change. Look at our 2001 attendance for every game except the Washington game. Pathetic.
Ok. I didn't realize this was all directed at SoFla residents only.. All valid stuff. Jimmies unrustled.
Not excusing it but I did see an interesting breakdown (like 10 years ago on Rivals) of SoFla residents. Can't even remotely do it justice (wish I could find it) but it was amazing to see a little insight (numbers wise) into how diverse it really is. Something like half the residents weren't born in the US.. Dude laid out anything & everything you could imagine. Crazy stuff. Regardless, there is no dancing around your point of there being PLENTY of people in the surrounding areas to fill up a stadium.

Yes, I understand this, and have seen similar articles/data, I'm just saying if you have 7 million people within a 3 hour drive of the stadium, you have to have 70,000 Miami Hurricane football fans out of that 7 million.
