The last guy I wanted here was Kevin Sumlin, but I realized we weren't in the position to hire someone who hadn't been a head coach. I suspect the University of Miami will veer away from hiring many more coordinators.

butch would never be allowed to set foot on campus... but i'd take him in a heart beat... if we "have" to get another guy..i'd want another golden type.. up and comer that has accomplished something at a smaller program.. no retreads (not named butch davis)

I guess I just don't understand the Cristobal fascination. We should be able to do a lot better. Golden was a much hotter name in the coaching ranks than Cristobal probably ever will be.

Not to mention his FIU squad took a major step back this year.

And when he was hired all the Miami fans kept blabbering about how much of a recruiting advantage he will get over the rest of the conference.

I don't understand how neither florida school in the Fun Belt run a train on the rest of the conference. They don't get elite talent, but mediocre talent in SoFla isn't too shabby considering what schools like ULM gets.

Because dozens of teams like Louisville and Rutgers are down here nabbing 2nd and 3rd tier S.Fla talent while ULM has next to no pressure at getting the same type of kids in LA. EVERYBODY sends a recruiter down to S Fla these days. IMHO, FIU and FAU moving to CUSA should allow them to finally nab some of the kids they haven't yet had the profile to attract.

Very good point, the 2nd & 3rd level guys are still getting to BCS schools, just watch any CFB game and you will inevitably see a playmaker from South Florida. The MAC for example has tons of kids from down here.
Getting a kid from down here is much less impressive than getting a kid out of Louisiana or Atlanta, IMO.

I don't believe any of these rumors but the AD should always have a short list. My list would include one name, Butch Davis.

I hope your list would be a little longer so you are prepared in case Butch says no.
