Shocking News RE: Seantrel ... he used pot at UM.

... the weed isn't / wasn't the problem—the entitlement is / was.

Big guys like that ... athletes who are gifted with great talent ... it can sometimes breed a culture of players who simply don't want to work for it as it's come easy their whole life.

Henderson rolled into Miami with drama and now he'll walk away having underachieved. He still has the size and natural talent to dominate at the next level, but if he doesn't completely change his work ethic, he'll get passed by as guys it's a number game and it takes hard work to survive at the next level.

Seantrel played well when he played. His biggest problem was that he never quite adjusted to being a college student-athlete. That immaturity kept him off the field. Now that football is his job, he will be that much better.

It doesn't get mentioned much, but Seantrel was in great shape for a big man. That tells me he cares. And it's not like he got in shape for the draft. He's been pretty lean since Golden got here. When he was actually on the field, he played hard. It was not uncommon to see him 15 yards downfield trying to finish a block.

That doesn't excuse his stupid mistakes, which hurt him and hurt the team. But I like Seantrel and believe he will be a Pro Bowler. So far, so good at the Senior Bowl.

5. Miami OT Seantrel Henderson continues to be a mystery. He flashed on Monday with his strong, heavy hands to punch and control rushers. But his snap anticipation and balance were up-and-down throughout drills. It's been said time and time again, but if a NFL coaching staff can get Henderson to play focused and ambitious, they'll land themselves a very good player. He is a player to watch this week to see how he responds to the instructions of the Falcons' coaching staff.

I went to the doctor because of pain from a back I broke 26 years ago and the doctor recommended I use marijuana.

Difference is use versus abuse. Control it and don't let it control you.

I've said all along that talent wise and physically Seantrel is comparable, if not better, than many former #1 picks like Jake Long.
Some team is going to get a 2nd-3rd round steal of a #1 pick talent.

If he makes a Pro Bowl, I'd be slightly shocked. He's more likely to get whoever chooses him fired than to make a Pro Bowl.

His hands are heavy but he doesn't always use them well. I noted that throughout his Canes career. Today the offensive line coach pulled Henderson aside after one pass block drill and was quite animated while showing Henderson the proper hand positioning for that type of play.

Then on the following snap Henderson was so concerned with his hand technique that the defensive end circled him quickly. He does have more highs and lows than virtually anyone with that type of frame and athletic ability.

I'm more interested in how a guy performs while playing for UM than I am in how he plays in the NFL. If he ends up in the NFL HOF, it won't make up for sleep-walking through much of his time here.

Dont care that he herbs but that dude will wlaways be a lazy ****. Would not draft him before 5th round.

Not that anyone would infer this, but I would be willing to bet that his honesty and candor was some pretty good advice from AG. I am sure he, or maybe someone else, told him he would be questioned about all the suspensions and the best thing he could do is just be honest. Because when your honest about something that you would rather hide, it will at the very least look like you have a better understanding of what happened to you and you have learned your lesson. The key is getting someone to believe you enough to draft you....

Good luck to the kid. Great talent, huge guy, needs to get it together.

Not surprising... If Golden was willing to give Seantrel multiple tries to stay on the team, then why we release Gabe Terry, Eddie Johnson and Gionni Paul? Just saying...

I thought Paul left. Gabe was busted and arrested with an OZ. And Eddie Johnson put a kid in the hospital(albeit deservedly) and tried to fight Barrow.

That's always the hope for guys like him, but the truth is that Miami is a structured organization, meaning that every student-athlete have to abide by team and school rules. Now, if he had a problem under a structured college organization, who's to say that we won't have one under a NFL organization? The NFL does not have time for guys like that.

I'm hoping that he can turn his life around similar to what Tyrann Mathieu did in Arizona.

He will get paid, have some good games and a good season here and there. However, unless he gets a new brain, the cash that goes into his bank account will most likely make him a greater mess, not a greater success. I will cheer for him on every down because I want to see every kid/Cane reach his full potential. It's really hard to change entitled and high. I'd pass and pick the kid that "wants it". If you really want to bet on his future, look to the past. Huge upside and a value after the first round. So I guess the real question is where is the Mendoza line on the million dollar gamble? I'm guessing between picks 26-40. FWIW if his mind was as half of his physical measurable, he'd be a top 5 overall pick.

All of you saying OMG POT!!! WHO CARES???

Well the NFL GMs and Coaches do because if it wasn't a big deal then they wouldn't care, but when your investing a draft pick on a guy, with your limited amount of picks sometimes and your investing your money on that guy and he is "violating the NFL substance abuse policy" which means he's getting suspended and the NFL has their eyes on him and your team...Trust me you care.

Also explains his lack of focus and discipline. The kid is an athlete and never came close to meeting his potential. He cost himself potentially millions. The difference between the 1st round and the 3rd round or lower is significant. We want to blame the coaches. News flash the kids are just as responsible. In some cases, more so.
