Hopefully a counter to that NIL comes in very late in the process....about three minutes before signing. Enough to give A&M pause and realize that they have 328 other defensive linemen and that by signing one to $2M means renegotiation for all of the others.

Basically the Bret Hart 1996 conundrum for Vince McMahon.

I mean our money also isn’t endless. Sorry but it’s not like Shemar is a Bosa where you know for a certainty this dude is going to be a guaranteed 1st rounder. And while DE is extremely important it isn’t QB. If A&M is offering a milli NiL deal than good luck to him. I’d rather get one Huge name high cost QB and a bunch of $50-100k blue chip guys than dropping a mill left and right and then be left with our dock in our hands in a couple years… let’s not bust our but too early here.

That’s the rumor for why Harold Perkins de committed from them. Apparently LsU offering him a **** load and he wanted A&M to give him his NiL deal all at once and they said **** nah… at least that’s what some message board porsters are saying
 
So if this NIL deal is truly 1m, I don’t buy the “Miami just couldn’t match that” stuff. Ruiz and company could definitely match it. My guess is that anything like that would have to be signed off by Mario. If so, maybe he balked and said not worth it. Just a guess.

Rumor on TD is that ATM changed the deal/terms on him compared to what’s they originally told him. His family did not take too kindly to it.
 
I don’t mind a kid leaving. What I do mind is them going so far out of the god **** way to troll.
Literally no reason for him to bust out on Ig like that today and give a fanbase hope.
Like I’ve said a bunch of times on here: paying a local 5 star to troll UM is the most successful recruiting tactic that was ever invented.
Kids love seeing it and it makes the dude doing it seem cool and thus making it easier for the next dude to do it.
If shamar doesn’t pick us the local kids won’t diss him because he went all UM on IG. They will talk about how he trolled UM and how funny it was. These kids idolize local elite players
There is a 14 year old who never left the hood following social media hoping some day he can be the next Shemar and hopes he has the ability to troll a fanbase.

Hopefully the inverse is also true - maybe we get lucky and Coach Mo feeds it into his head that Miami is the place to be and that ultimately $100k/yr vs $250k/yr is not necessarily a BAD decision long term

I mean first of all $1M NiL is probably gunna be over 4 years. But that’s the same **** as when Tayson Hill signs a $100m deal knowing **** well he basically only has a $10m deal… point being if Shemar plays to his Star Level he’ll be 3 and out. So most likely his 4yr $250k/yr will be worth $750k… while if we offered him around $100k/yr he’d get $300k. So we’re talking a $350k difference… definitely a big deal, but is it a big deal to an NFL starter? No.

Why do we need to show that with Shemar lol. That money can just go to the guys next year and we don’t have to give the SEC a warning…

Just being real…I said before they hired Mario that this was the last chance I was giving Miami. Either get “back” in the next couple years or I’ll find another team to follow because life is too short to waste on a school that won’t invest and do what it takes. If they don’t care, neither will I.

Seen some good signs but We need to sign top 5 classes every year. Full stop. We need to sign multiple 5-stars like Bama does. That’s the only way “back” ever happens.

Call me a bad fan, but I’m not interested in following a middle of the pack ACC team even if I did go to school there.

If it takes 30 mil to compete, then play the game. If Shemar needs a bigger bag, drop the bag.

But we have just established that money will make this all happen. So sending a message is meaningless. At the end of the day if we spend the money in the 23 class we will get the kids regardless what message we sent.

I mean hopefully we get Shemar. But am I gunna trip if he signs a Million dollar deal and we don’t offer that? Nah.
