The problem is needing to free up the depth chart for 2018. It's gonna require some luck and skillful roster management to ensure that we have enough talent and depth at CB for 2017, while also freeing up space to make UM an attractive place for that monster 2018 class.
The ideal situation would be if M Young and Redwine prove themselves this year to be starting caliber CBs, and Mayes proves to be a reliable backup. That would give you a good 3 CB rotation heading into 2017. Then you add Bandy to make it a 4 man rotation at CB for 2017 (with M Jackson and DJ Dallas as backups), allowing Henderson to move to offense and provide much needed speed at RB or WR.
When 2018 comes around, you have Redwine, Young, and Bandy as the core 3, with Jackson transferring out, Mayes in reserve, and DJ moved to offense. At first it might seem ridiculous to move 2 out of the 3 CBs in 2017 to other positions, but i don't see how else we're gonna free up enough space to make kids want to come here. If Bandy, Henderson, and DJ all stay at CB, we're gonna go 6 deep there with only 1 senior by the time the 2018 kids sign their LOI.
My scenario would leave plenty of room for 3 or even 4 CBs if they want in. Ivey, Blades, Campbell and/or Samuel with Jobe and Grierson at safety.
Although i still have no clue where kids like Jalen Patterson or Thomas Burns will fit in. Are they potential WR prospects?
