I know people get on me for saying "Shannon Guy's" but i think we need to remember where we are as a program. This year's freshman are only AG's second real recruiting class. The Shannon guy's had bad habits and had to be won over and reprogrammed. Aside from Linder, none of them are consistent. None are legit nfl prospects. Seantrel and Stephen are based on potential. Just look at the development of Tracy Howard. This kid saved 2 games for us this year with big int's. Denzel has been a play maker.Dallas Crawford in 3 years has grown enormously. In a year or two, guys like Bush, Figs, Grace, AQM, Mccord, Coley, Artie, Flowers, etc will all be legit NFL prospects. We have yet to see the best of these kids . next year and the year after, we are going to be on our way to knocking bama off their perch. it all starts will the shannon guys being gone.

Feliciano is one of "Shannon's guys". Hurns is solid as can be. Another Shannon player. We're three years in. Anybody who plays alot has bought in to Golden's way of doing things. Those that play are all "Golden's guys".

hurns is good and i think will make an nfl team but he is not the caliber of a stacey coley, waters, or macolm prior to his injury.
Feliciano and clive are exceptions because they really didnt play under randy. Overall this program will be better once they are gone. hate to say it because a cane is a cane but golden has a different type of player he brings in and develops.

Shayon Greene is pretty consistent. He's not a world beater and he's not "dynamic" but he is the same player every Saturday. He also currently leads the team in TFL and is tied for most sacks.

They are Miami Hurricanes, i know alot of you think every player Golden recruit is gonna be great. Nope...some of them are gonna be role players. Lets just hope the team is not dividing players into Shannon and Golden players....i dont think they are either because we wouldn't be 7-0.

Why are so many of "Shannons guys" still starting OP?

Stephen Morris
Brandon Linder
John Feleciano
Jared Wheeler
Shane McDermott
Seantrel Henderson
Shay on Greene
Curtis Porter
Luther Robinson
Allen Hurns
Clive Walford
Why is AJ highsmith still playing?
Why is Asante Cleveland still playing?
Why Is the other safety starting/playing?
Why is Tyrone Cornelius still starting lol?
Denzell, Chickilllo, Dorsett, and Duke are "UM guys"

Why are all these "Shannon guys" still playing and in most cases, starting, if they are not up to par according to you. Where Lamar Miller, Mike James, Travis Benjamin, Olivier Vernon, Brandon McGee Shannon guys as well? I guess there not good enough for the NFL also right? You said it.

i understand what OP is trying to say. "Shannon Guys" lost invaluable years in their development cycle. Their ceilings for both physical build and skill level are much lower because of it. Also because of the lack of recruiting and lack of depth guys like chick and dorsett who should have 2.5 years left only have 1.5 years left.

In general: The former coach has no guys. After a coach is fired you no longer have players on a previous team you coached. The current coach has no control over the guys the former coach recruited. The current coach just has to deal with it.

All the current coach can do is make the players better that he inherited.

because al got what 11 guys in his first year? last year was his first real class i don't think anyone with a straight face can so those guys are better than last years class.
our td's vs florida were dorsett and waters. our defensive stars were denzel, mccord, tracy,Jenkins, etc. In NC, who led us back? Dallas and tracy. Who led us back last week? Duke
they had stunted development. No shannon guys have made the plays on defensive that denzel, mccord, tracy, and jenkins have. Our best offensive players outside ol are duke, dallas, stacy, and waters. Hurns is a possession receiver. I will include him though along with clive because they make plays but lets be real. Also, if deon was healthy, he would be all ACC.

I think too many people are stuck on the concept of Shannon's guys. Most of Shannon's guys aka his favorites were gone after the first year of Golden. Most of the rest were backups. The biggest problem we've had is depth more than anything else.

exactly. we arent deep. a year of off-season workouts for guys like kamalu, aqm, coley, sonny, grace, figs, etc will work wonders.

In my view they are all Miami Hurricanes, regardless of whether recruited under old or new regimes.

Half way through 3rd year, everyone left is Al's guy-- that is why we are undefeated and considered over achievers instead of 4-3 and underachievers. These same guys are 3 -4 right now with previous staff in place. This is Al's team and his guys. Randy and that culture is in rear view and out of sight. Only fans remeber it.

In two years will have team full of only guys Al recruited is a full cycle. In 4 years we will have a team Al recruited without the NCAA cloud. By then, Al will have 2 NCs and everyone will be wondering what happed to Bama and crying "poor, Jimbo. If only he hadn't played Miami."

Al is constructing something, not drawing it with autocad. Construction takes time. The little midget hurt us bad, but in the end, because of him Al Golden has been turned into a Hurricane. He is not just a coach we hired any more. He has seen, heard and felt the vile hatred that is directed at us and has embraced it. He wanted the gator win as badly as any of us old enough to have been in the OB for the flop. That win made this game huge. This is Al's biggest game as coach. I like our odds with him.

Al Golden wouldn't have signed off on Stephen Morris. Morris is the mediocre senior QB that was left to him. The only QB left to him actually.

Our OL situation is in constant flux, bc the stud senior 5 star RT Henderson that was left over for Golden isn't actually very good. The C he left him isn't very good. Linder and Feliciano are, so give Randy credit for leaving us with 2/5ths of a capable OL.

The DL? Golden was left with literally nothing. Porter is a solid, mostly one dimensional guy. Shayon Green is a great dude, but an extremely limited one dimensional player. Luther Robinson is an adequate backup, nothing more. Our most senior LB is a slow mediocre guy from Buffalo. The senior DBs we have are all bad.

Hurns is a solid dependable receiver. Nothing earth shattering about his skills, but a nice player for us.

Al Golden doesn't have a time machine he can stick his recruits into and make them seniors. The best starters on this team (outside of the two OL randy left) are Duke, Coley, Perryman, Chick, Howard, Flowers, and Dorsett. All Al Golden recruits. The rest are all freshmen and sophomores who aren't ready yet. And I'm sure Al would have filled in more JUCO's to be able to immediately contribute, but unfortunately no JUCO worth anythiing was going to sign here knowing he wasn't going to play in a bowl game (another of the many gifts Radio ****** left for AG).
