Shannon Dawson is the New OC/QB Coach

Niece graduates from UH this year so watched a fair amount of their games. I'm surprised to hear how lukewarm folks are, this is an A hire in my eyes.

Mario looked at Miami's only offensive success from the last 20 years - Lashlee, and realized he needed to change the present scheme dramatically in that direction. Dawson is going to have the same dramatic shift in offensive stats as Enos to Lashlee, especially with a healthy TVD. Not to mention 5 star wide receivers will actually give us the time of day again.

My kid has talked to a few scholly players on the O side and they're really pumped. In my opinion, this hire is step 1 in the offense regaining their self-confidence.

Dulles, good to hear what you said about the scholly players.

I'd also like to point out that "Lashlee" was not the only good OC from the last 20 years, I truly believe Jedd Fisch was pretty solid too.

They scored 36 ppg last year.

Oh, they also scored 36 ppg the year before. But go on.
The issue is, Holgerson was likely the play caller.

Not saying that Dawson can’t be as good or better but hiring another OC in back to back years who didn’t call plays, as different as they are, it is fair to question & be cautious.

Those 36ppg are great but how much of that was him? We will find out together.

Dana took over playcalling or at least more responsibility, during their Memphis comeback. Early season was already disastrous for them.

Shanny didn’t start calling plays until towards the end of their 2021 season. When he did run the show, it was a disaster. See Kentucky, Southern Miss. If you want to make excuses for Kentucky, go ahead but try to defend his Southern Miss stint.View attachment 230052
I’m not sure that anything in the same quotes warrants a comment like “putrid hire”. The top quote is just opinion.
Putrid is a strong word. Like the garbage smelled putrid, or my performance on the test was putrid and I received an F.
Those quotes, assuming they are correct, seem more in line with underwhelming or even a willingness to reserve judgment until we see the on field product.

LMAO!

This is why you guys have GOT to stop listening to fans.

Houston had 3 backs play last year. In 13 games, they COMBINED for 254 carries. Combined. That's 19 running back carries per game, for the entire running back room.

Tune averaged 38 passes per game.

If your QB is throwing is 38 times a game, and your backs are running it 19 times a game, let me know how you come up with "run, run, pass, punt" LOLLL.

Houston also ranked 117th in the country in number of punts.

So they rarely run, they rarely punt, but the offense is run, run, pass, punt.

Please, please stop bringing this bull**** to the board. The vast majority of people here have literally zero brain cells, they're very easily polluted.

Taking early bets on when Mario will hire his next offensive coordinator by in 2024.

He didn’t call plays.. he started giving input on what he would like to see more of. There is a difference in the two
