Shalala Setting Tone Pre UF Game

I know many on this site are down on Ms. Shalala. I have seen various posts criticizing her appearance, her commitment to the football program (or lack thereof) and/or arguing that she hasn't fought back vs NCAA enough.

As a parent of a UM student who flew out from California for the weekend and saw her speak at the "pep rally" on Friday night I was impressed. It's not how she said what she said because she isn't a screamer but what she said was key. She could have offered a simple "go get em speech" but she she offered more than that.

She made the point to say this was a coming out for the Hurricanes and they were on their way back to center stage. In addition she offered some, albeit low key, swag when she talked about not letting up and kicking the Gators all the way back to Gainesville. They are simple themes that are repeated on this site over and over but the fact that she echoed the points are worth noting. I thought...."she gets it".

In addition, kudos to the frat kids in the parking lot the next am. Way to party!

Her leadership was definitely appreciated the past few months as Miami made it's case against the NCAA. She understands the value of the football program and is doing everything in her power to see that Miami returns to form. I think we'll eventually see that it does and that the only variable in this case is time.

1)who is Lauria?
2) Staying in the OB should have been Shalala's 1st, 2nd and 3rd priorities. She could have found a way (evident in the "millions" she has raised for other causes")
She is the President of this university, when something tragic happens like that she gets the blame.

Football is also the only reason a hamster i mean woman of Shalala's statue would even take the job here. To then neglect the program which she did (see, Randy Shannon, not saving the OB and leaving the big east). We dont belong in the ACC and we dont belong playing in the worst venue in college football. who is to blame?

We have alumni that don't understand what I posted, not sure that your are aware that our fan base encompasses both Alumni and Non-Alumni. You think I care that you attend UM, you think I care where you get your degree. Am I your employer? Am I the fan ****? I don't care where you went the school. I only care that you support the program.
