Sacks allowed by top 10 teams: Very telling stat

Reason for Morris's regression by order of impact

1. Ankle - Morris had poor footwork before his ankle injury which only worsened it. This is messing his mechanics up horribly
2. Confidence - This is partly as a result of his ankle, but also I think he's feeling the pressure of having been put in the spotlight.
3. New OC - Playbook may not have been a drastic overhaul but changes were made.. Coley is Morris's 3rd OC.

Unfortunately I don't think the ankle will full recover so as a result I don't expect any major improvement.
As for confidence it's always been a mental thing with Morris. He wavers in self confidence at times. He needs to learn how to harness his confidence no matter the circumstances.
When he does, he performs well.
Lastly, Coley can help him out by calling plays to get him into a rhythm and build up his confidence.

part of the reason we have that low amount of sacks is stephen throwing up with pressure in his face and the passes getting intercepted. online has been decent in pass pro, but certainly not elite like most thought they would be. a lot of blown assignments, people coming free, mixed in with Morris's ankle and limited movement. we need to go to that Flower-Feliciano-wheeler-linder-henderson line

he has played like this for 3 years...2 as a starter....go back and watch the 2012 games with bethune or GT or NCST...

ncst where he set all the records....he missed 25 passes in that game..25..a game guys were open all day..yes 100 yards came off two plays when NCST jumped off sides and Morris was smart enough to burn them

They guy has accuracy issues that cant be fixed..not now maybe at that next level but not now

Winston takes a lot of "good sacks". Morris could learn a thing or two from that, like throwing ******* INTs in the red zone rather than taking a sack for instance.

Morris is gonna get crushed at the next level with his accuracey issues and not wanting to step up into the pocket while sht is flying around him.

And I don't get it because he doesn't seem soft or afraid to get hit. He just never steps up in the pocket.

Morris, prior to this year, was fine in the pocket. It's one of the things scouts liked about him, so please drop that he has ALWAYS been like this in the pocket. I'd say its related to the ankle and confidence issues. The accuracy was always an issue. I still think part of this falls back to Coley to put Stemo in a position to succeed. It's obvious Stemo is not an elite qb, but he showed he can be successful when he is put in a position to succeed like he was last year. The other part is Stemo getting his head back to where he was last year.

I'd gladly trade a higher sack number for fewer TOs from him. Our team sacks are also in part so low b/c he lobs it up when teams start to get pressure.

I think a lot of you guys bashing Morris, have never played through injury. He's antsy bc he's hurt. It's no secret he's streaky. Let's see what another week of practice can do for his confidence.

Just no!

Did you see Connor shaw for USCE?! Injured knee and ol boy led his team on 5 of 6 drives in the 2nd half fr points he needs to suck it up or bow to Williams if he's gonna be a detriment to the team

I was a big S. Morris proponent but this 100% spot on.

I'd like to see how our pass attempts compare to the other teams on that list.. I'd be surprised if we were anywhere near the top of the list in pass attempts.

You going to differentiate between real passes attempted 10+ yards downfield or the wr screens that every team on that list, except us, runs as the staple of their "pass" game?

Any of those other teams have a qb who has to wait until a wr is flying 40 yards downfield to hit that 65+ yard completion?

You were, not so slyly, insinuating that our sacks are low only because we don't pass that much.

If you really care, do your own research, instead of throwing thinly veiled negative barbs.

It's a difference between QB pressure and sacks.... Stephen Morris has fewer sacks b/c he has substituted them w/ hurried interceptions.

I said it, he said it, and James Coley said it..... that sometimes taking the sack is the best play.

So many ppl on this board keep looking at S. Morris's feet when he's throwing like you all have a clue at what you're looking at.... you dont know the reads, you dont know the plays, you dont know the timing, you dont know anything..... some miscues are obvious, i can admit, but most arent.

He played a much better game against Wake Forest, yet you all are acting like he threw 4 interceptions in that game smh let it go

Agreed with this but I will give Morris some benefit of the doubt. If you are playing on a bum ankle, you don't want to be getting knocked to the ground.

Still, its frustrating.

This is the same thing I've been saying. He wasn't great against wake, but he wasn't bad either. He missed a few throws, who doesn't. Everyone is acting like UNC is every game he plays.

If Kehoe would play the best 5 and leave them alone, the pass blocking is fine.

It's the run blocking that I usually have a problem with.

Morris has ALWAYS had an issue of bailing out of the pocket.

Lol @ the notion that he bails now because of his injured ankle. My ankles ****ed up so let me run! lol

has nothing to do with negative barbs.. my contention was that we have less pass attempts, which also leads to less sacks.. my contention was correct..
