Ruiz stadium update

^ how do you know this?

Been there, kinda gross at times. It's just dated. Played tennis there a bunch. Like many public spaces, an investment would be helpful. What Ruiz is proposing, is spectacular. Would provide world-class public amenities for the community. And this doesn't even reflect the health facility he is proposing. Do you not agree? If not, I would say wait till the full plans go public.

its not really run down as far as miami dade county parks go (the ones solely operated by dade county and not by individual cities (Aventura, miami lakes, Kendall, etc.). the proposal so far would be an upgrade but there are a lot of factors that a lot of those voters dont give a **** bout

you also forgot to include that it takes years away from public use that residents still use daily and there would be opposition to that as a lot of dont care for anther stadium or even about football that much even in that area.

Wow, you really tightened that up, lol. "As far as Miami Dade parks go," "not the ones operated by individual cities," and then random unnamed factors? :)

It's ok, but it's no shining star, and let me add, it could become a centerpiece for the southern part of Miami, like many great parks are in different metropolises. It could become a beacon, a national story, AND a god **** ridiculous home for Miami football and other lesser sports.

And you just made a massive assumption that I've seen a few people make, including you multiple times (I believe, apologies if I'm incorrect). Tropical Park is 275 acres large. You think they are just going to condemn the whole park one day one and close it for years? Is it not possible they would do this in stages so that half or more of the park is available through construction? I would counsel you that its almost absolutely assured they would do it in stages. Besides, you need to break a few eggs to make an omelette. Whatever is closed at any one time is being completely gutted and improved for the community. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

i personally don’t think the residents give a **** bout a stadium outside of Miami fans. Not all residents are Miami fans. I do think the stadium is a good ide
a selfishly. But go to founders park in a Ventura and see the differences in maintenance and upkeep when it’s completely maintained by that city vs the county

Anyone who thinks local residents aren't going to raise holy **** about any expansion of that site has no clue what they're talking about.

The stadium benefits UM, but also the local HS's and other programs. Believe me, it would be utilized plenty by the community. Ruiz has made this point. But the key is EVERYTHING ELSE in the park that is being built/renovated/reconstructed that benefits the community and local schools. You get this, right?

Not sure what your point is about Aventura, I think you are agreeing with me that Tropical Park could use some work and better maintenance unless I am reading you wrong.

Since I’m not a resident, I can’t speak for them, but I can say that that’s going to be the rate limiting step. And it’s a tough one. I think people have to be cognizant of this. They could bring it all to a screeching halt.

I think the idea is great. I do think it benefits the school And betters the park. I don’t think the residents will see it that way bc they don’t care about Miami the way this board does. this will be a big issue to overcome.

I played in the westchester optimist league in the 90’s and it hasn’t changed a bit. Typical county park that isn’t prioritized and left looking like ****. They should be counting their lucky stars Ruiz is about to save that place.

This is indeed our biggest issue. Most of the county acts like they didn’t go to college, not gonna care about a private school getting a stadium. Most went to fiu uf ucf fsu

But 270~ acres of the park will be NOT THE FOOTBALL STADIUM and will be a shining state of the art multi-million dollar (and then some) park with a community hospital reportedly as well. Again, there is already a small football stadium there. The increase in the football footprint is barely noticeable in relation to the overall size of the park. I don't think you have to give a flying fart about UM to understand why this benefits the community in a highly impactful way. It's a winning lottery ticket.

???? It is a Dade County PARK with baseball fields, tennis courts, jogging trails, equestrian arena with stalls. It is a green space in the middle of a high density residential and commercial area that is used by thousands of people every day, with many events on the calendar for the community and different organizations. It is not a chunk of vacant land sitting off somewhere neglected. The land is not for sale and any change of use for a large portion of that land is going to have to be VOTED on and approved by residents.
That’s why I am asking the question of what the alternative is to the stadium. I haven’t been to Tropical Park for years but its not Central Park let’s put it that way. What’s the closest area for relocating the park I assume not much due to limited space.
