Ruiz- outside the lines on espn

not saying this is Ruiz but you'd be surprised at how shady lawyers are. there was one firm based out of miami where the owner was hiding recovery from clients and pocketing it lol
In every profession my friend. How many Miami business took hundreds of thousands in Recovery Funds and went out and bought fancy sports cars and down payments on a new home. Crooks are also found among MDs, business owners, accountants, engineers, ex NFL football players, etc, etc.

That and I have worked with some high end firms and you would be surprised how much they fvck up on a regular basis.

Lawyers are like any other profession. Some are intelligent and conscientious while others may have barely passed the bar and will do the absolute minimum to skate by. Ruiz seems to be a sharp go-getter that has his game buttoned up.

John Ruiz is a lawyer. He’s not some backwater booster who owns a car dealership. His i’s are dotted and his t’s are crossed. Every move is calculated. When he goes on ESPN or Feinbaum or meets with the NCAA, it’s all for a reason. He wants everyone to know that Miami is doing everything by the book. That student athletes that sign NIL deals are getting legitimate endorsement contracts, not shady deals with collectives. We’re already hearing about players at USC and Texas ATM not receiving payments. No such worries at Miami. The man is a genius
I do enjoy how he takes over the interviews.

He's been far more prepared than the interviewer whenever I've seen in on.

eh the best criminal defense attorney in the country and Harvard professor took multiple tries to pass the bar. its just a test. doesn't really determine whether you'll be a good lawyer or not. what hes doing is more so having a good business sense rather than lawyering (law school doesn't teach you business which is what starting your own firm is)

While I agree it was largely positive pub, the fact that they literally framed it as “this thing Miami is doing” with absolutely zero references to Texas, TAMU, Tenn, or anyone else shows it’s motivation was clicks. I mean just show the hypocrisy of Saban saying that on stage with him talking about his own player making $1 mil +.

That would be actual reporting on the issue.

yup. you should see how the ID firms in Florida bill. everything is fake and over billed for what is just templated work an assistant can do.
The boiler plate stuff is a mfer that’s why it’s always good to find a regular self practicing guy that can handle that utility stuff. Nothing more infuriating than getting billed $800 per hour and it’s boiler plate.

I mean honestly, it shouldn’t take too long for these big money whales to realize that there is virtually no return on these NIL deals. My guess is this whole thing corrects itself pretty quickly.

100%. Hopefully, for us, that doesn’t happen too soon…
