Robert Stafford - not hurt

how jaden harris run a 10.9 100m in HS im so curious. maybe the staff is applying too much ankle tape and slowing him down? trying to fatten him up and get him to D tackle? who gave robert knowles a 5th year of eligibility
there was one thing Coach NoD said that was true. Can he play safety? he said you cant just throw an athlete back there.
Jaden is doubting himself. it makes him play slow in contrast to Kiko at LB who's limited athletically.

It doesn't matter how fast he is if he's in the wrong position. Which he seems to be more often than not.
but when he is occasionally in the right position he is getting fried too. its like he takes angles to the ball a fast person would take and then consistently loses the race to the spot.

but its like his redeeming quality was his speed and quickness, & when you watch yesterday's game he's getting cooked because of his lack of speed and quickness (and some decision making to be fair) so perplexing

You would think Harris's 10.9 100 m speed would show up when he's trying to run down guys on these long explosive plays but he looks slow there too. I haven't seen him hawk down anyone.

Stafford, Markeith Williams, and Hill are to small, all guys about 175lbs. One would think what they lack in physicality they would make up with technique, but none of them can tackle with proper form and Hill gets cooked bc of his lack of technique and understanding of leverage. Well all of our CBs have a lack of understanding of leverage.
Good thing Cormani didn't come here. What was he, about 160 tops?

Why does everyone in our secondary look like they’re still in HS
Yeah, when watching the secondaries in the Vols-Bama and Texas-GA games their safeties and corners have size and strength. When they hit, the guy with the ball, more often than not, goes down with first contact. Been years since I've seen that at UM.

That would make his commitment look even worse. Knowing we signed a player that can't get any playing time over a bunch of JAG's. Thats putting it nicely.
Thats recruiting, you take projections and development potential
more than half of your class should redshirt and get 2 years to develop.

Pancake was a 5 star, but no one thought he was close to really playing.

About the same size coming out of highschool, but he definitely was better and more technically sound coming out. If he wasn’t so much of a knuckle head UM would have had a good pickup. He had a pick six yesterday

He still hypes up kids too much. Literally the only highlight of Stafford I saw from camp was him getting smoked by Lofton for a TD. One play doesn't say much. But the lack of evidence he's any good says a lot after 7 games.

The guys I've seen actually make plays in games are Williams and Patterson at S. So why not put them in more often, and move Meesh back to Nickel where he's apparently more comfortable? Also start testing out Robby, give him some snaps. And maybe go strong Nickel more often so Chase and the Bobbys see the field.
I think Robby and Mooyoung maybe at his level or may surpass if he doesnt progress.

Hes athletic but seems thin and playing catch up to this level of play.

True, every team absolutely takes projections and development potential. I agree with that.

It is also more difficult for freshman to start or have significant playing time in certain position groups, such as o-lineman. Guys like Francis Mauioga are the exception when it comes to freshman o-lineman starting/playing, and he's freak of nature. Our o-line group is also pretty good. Much easier for younger players to get playing time at receiver, running back, and cornerback.

If Stafford can't get some snaps over anybody we have right now at CB, then I don't think he ever will. We are going to eventually bring in some better players at that position, whether it be thru recruiting or the portal. Fingers crossed.

According to D$, all 85 players on the roster are elite as ****......every season.
