1. Great to hear

2. To all the asshats who have insulted this kid this whole recruiting season: @&$! You.

3. To all the asshats who will claim they weren't insulting him, see no. 2.

Question though, as soon as he starts playing in games he takes up a scholarship, yes?

It can be given to him at any time since scholarships are renewable every year.

No. If he walks on he's just a regular *** student, who is playing football. Only takes a scholarship if allocated from athletics.

I was wondering how the walkons were able to play last week. Derris hughes for example, so he could play as much as he wanted but since he pays to go there then he doesnt take up a scholly?

need a more reliable source to confirm this before I believe it (no offense to OP).

I'd be surprised if this is confirmed by the recruiting gurus considering that they didn't know this already. This is not a recent development.

That is as much as I'm going to elaborate out of respect for the kid's privacy.

Would be great news if true. This kid is exactly what you want in a walk on but the last thing you want in a scholarship player.

Would also be a nice way to add depth to a thin team.
