I didn't start watching football until 1991 so he's a little before my time, but I appreciate that he laid the foundation and established a dynasty. RIP

Bobby Bowden once said that had Howard not left Miami, he'd have been the all time winningest coach in NCAA history. I tend to agree with him. He was the architect. His teams played hard. I consider myself very lucky to have found the Canes in 1981. He was the best.

He built 3 different programs and won a national championship. His contribution to college football is more than just a win-loss percentage.
