Great read as usual.
I'm concerned about his Coley-esque obsession with tall receivers. The most important physical attribute for a receiver is quickness.
Then again, maybe geography explains his lack of success. What good receivers have come out of the state of Georgia?
Going back through the years, I'm noticing a pretty common trend of the best WRs in the state of Georgia picking schools other Georgia.
Megatron in 2004 to GT.
2005 looked like a bad year in the state with the highest WR being a 3-star that went to Bama.
The top 2 WRs in 2006 went to UF and Auburn respectively. That year also had BeBe Thomas, but he was lowly rated and went to GT. 247 says he had an offer, but I'm not sure if he was heavily pursued by UGA or not.
2007 UGA got the top in-state WR, but GT got 3 of the top 5.
2008 the top two WRs from Georgia went to Oklahoma and USCw
2009 looked like a mediocre year in state, but the top two ended up at Stanford and Bama. That year also had Stephen Hill in state that ended up at GT
2010 the top 5 WRs (Da'Rick Rogers, Markeith Ambles, TJ Jones, Antonio Goodwin and Shaun Kitches) all went to schools other than UGA
2011 Got the top 3 WRs in state (Justin Scott-Wesley, Chris Conley, Sanford Seay)
2012 The top 3 WRs (JaQuay, Savage, Jason Croom, CJ Curry) all went to schools other than UGA
2013 Looked mediocre in state. Demarcus Robinson was the Georgia's only 4 star WR and he went to UF. Savage from 2012 back on the board and this time signs with Texas A&M
2014 Four 4-stars, only one signed with UGA
2015 Top two in state signed with Tennessee and Auburn
Of course, I didn't look at the WRs UGA actually signed in those classes. Still, it seems like the trend for Richt to lose on the trail for top WR talent WR prospects. AJ Green is definitely his outlier.
