Richt tweet

I don’t think some people realize just how horrible of shape our program was in. It was worse then we ever knew or could understand. We are well on our way back very quickly. I’ll forever be thankful to Richt. He’s the first coach that we’ve had in how long that will leave the program better then then inherited it.

Was much worse after Shannon then it was after Golden.

Al left the program in pretty decent shape , the roster was in way better shape than how he found it. He sucked as a hc but Richt walked into a ok position. There's no need to make it into something it's not , that's just excuses in my book.

I’m usually with you cribby but I think your forgeting what Al did to our local connections. He made Miami basically a laughing stock & our offer a pawn for other offers.

I’ll never give Golden any credit. Kudos to youx

Ya I mean I'm glad he's gone too...But it wasn't even comparable. Golden > Shannon. At least Golden knew what he was trying to accomplish, Shannon had no clue how to run a program. Utter dog$hit.

It’s certainly comparable. You may be right but to make it seem not close is a little silly imo.

What? Golden inherited morris, jacory, mike james, lamar miller, allen hurns, tommy streeter, sean spence, Oliver Vernon, Ojomo, Brandon McGee, Seantrel Henderson, Brandon Linder, Brandon Washington, Marcus Robinson, Travis Benjamin, Ray Ray Armstrong, etc. Shannon left golden better off than golden left richt.

Some of y'all are acting like Richt inherited a bad roster , just stop with the excuses. That roster was still better than 8-9 teams in the acc, this is nowhere in the same universe as what Butch walked in to.

We were the most talented team most weeks during the last two seasons.

Stop.

We werent a laughing stock under shannon. We were a laughing stock under golden. i dont think Radio was a good coach but Golden did nothing better. Spare me.
Shannon was a first time coach. I have issue with shannon but to even say golden was that much better is a joke. Shannon left golden a handful of nfl players and a ton of MIAMI speed.

NO ONE walked into what Butch walked into. what he did here was unreal.

A good bit of that was for 1 year, and a lot of it was suspended (vernon, Armstrong) and Lol, jacorry, ojomo, marcus robinson, etc...(not bad players, none even close to being drafted.

Richt was left a monster defensive line (4 getting drafted this year + contributors like Jenkins and Willis), Elder, R.Jenkins, Kaaya, Walton, Njoku, Herndon, Coley, Mcdermott, St. Louis, plus a lot more committed or close to being committed than what Golden took over that December Shannon was fired. Not to mention Golden had to deal with probation (shannon took over only a few years after glory years, those years still fresh in kids minds) and Golden at least tried to get us back in the game in the weight room (shannon's teams were some of the most out of shape, weakest power 5 teams you'd ever seen.)

Golden was bad. Shannon was abysmal. It's not even a comparison.

Dude sucked as a Hc and was decent as a recruiter. But he left a better roster behind then most coaches do after being fired. What Richt left behind at Uga is a rarity. I doubt you ever see a fired coach leave that type of team behind. Only one that comes close the last 10-15 years is Zook at UF. Ron left a very talented squad for Urban.

The problem with both Randy and Golden was coaching. Randy was not a HC. Golden’s entire scheme for D was alien to Miami and he was unable to change. Both failed as coaches. Their recruiting better than Denis’ and maybe even Coker, but is was nowhere near good enough. Randy at lease recruited speed had a great online coach who left true quality. Golden’s on field failure crippled his recruiting class each year after Duke’s Class. Both failed to recruit good enough DTs and QBs. That doom Randy. Al was doomed by the dna of his Midwest defense.

Mark left better at uga than he inherited here. He will be judge by his results here not by what he inherited. Coker and Denis are the ones who inherited teams built but the god of recruiting and sucked once they were on there own. Mark got a good team. Let’s see what he does.

Came in to see about Richt’s tweet

Instead found a coupla PoRsters arguing whether Shannon or Golden sucked more

Recruiting was never the issue for both golden and randy, they both got players that balled out in both in college and the league

Except the fact Shannon couldn't produce first round talent to save his life. Also, other than a handful of upperclassmen he left Golden, that roster was junk. Pure junk. He didn't recruit worth a crap after 2008. Once any talent got here, it didn't get developed. We were the weakest team I have ever seen under Shannon. Golden's schemes were junk for UM, but he had a better eye for talent, and developed it better than Shannon. His problem wasn't a PLAYER problem, it was a schematic one. He had access to Miami talent and didn't need to be scheming like he had Temple talent. That and that alone was his undoing. Randy couldn't get talent, and the talent he could get constantly underachieved.

Check the UM roster from 2012 and tell me where the upperclassman talent was that Shannon left behind. There was absolutely none.

Yeah, they both sucked, but in drastically different ways. If I had to choose a team to inherit, I'd take Golden's.

Who are you hearing this from?

This is trolling season, brocker. You gotta know that by now.

You have posted over a hundred times since yesterday. I guess you are trying to fill the void of Pete leaving by increasing your output of crap posts exponentially?! Please don’t. Go outside and find a real life away from your keyboard.

Keep talking like that and the void Chise is going to fill is just south of your nose.

He is the undisputed champion of CIS keyboards and slurpers like you will affirm that.

Rumor is UGA offered him twice the pay. Don't ever doubt Hartley's commitment to this U

Like I’ve stated before. Richt didn’t hire the sexiest candidates. He did his best to hire people that would be loyal to him. IMO he told the guys to give him at least 5 years for a ring.

Think the challenge will need to be the University securing more funds to sustain future bidding wars.

But Broke wants to use that money to add crushed velvet lining to the lockers and full length mirrors with inlaid Swarovski crystals...that way we can land some bloodthirsty savages (according to valid)

I have no idea what this stuff is...I'd rather spend the money to buy an air superiority fighter and establish control of the skies. Keep Saban's copter and that UF jet out of our airspace.
