Richt and Kuligowski going in-home with D.J. Johnson tonight

View as article
I don't mind them doing an in-home at all. Shows DJ he's a priority and gives Richt a private setting where the parents are in a comfortable environment and can get assurance that DJ's in responsible hands. Remember, they're sending their kid clear across the country to college. Richt hadn't done an in-home with him yet, I don't see the reason why people are complaining.

There is nothing wrong with Richt visiting DJ. Be clear no matter how much our current recruits would want to go get more savages it would be more important to have the connection with the class you are currently recruiting. As noted before Richt had only met him once face to face in Coral Gables never in home. DJ has well over 100 offers. History tells us we better keep our kids committed. Also look into the possibility of building a pipeline out of his high school. This visit could put us in the running for a linebacker or running back in the future.

If the kid is a lock to UM, why are we still flying across country for in home visits?

I'm not being a **** I just don't understand the process. Shouldn't we be spending those resources on kids we're still hoping to lure in?

Or is there a threat with DJ to still flip?

Pete, serious question. Is all this just part of recruiting? Why don't players who are "all in" tell the coaches to use their time landing players who are on the fence? I think the coaches would appreciate a HS senior and future player telling the coaches not to waste their time, that they are 100% and don't worry.

I understand this is the kids' time to shine and they enjoy the attention. I don't slight them for that. Just wondering.

Thanks.

Lol at one of these posts getting negged 23 times and the other repped 5 times even though they ask the same question.

This is the truth. Some of my posts have gotten over 90 likes. I haven't said a thing my entire like that deserved 90 likes. My wedding vows barely got 1 like. Ya'll are nuts. Seek help. Running like sheep 2 tha slaughterrrrrrrr.

:ibis-roflmao-sm3: My wedding night was downvoted more times than Obamacare in Alabama.

Every committed recruit gets a f**king home visit from the head coach.

Are you guys stupid?

It's part of the process.

He's Baaaaaaaaaacccccck.

This is the only time Richt is visiting/has visited this recruit, right? If that is the case, why is the fuss? Why are PORSTERS questioning the visit? Just because the kid is strongly committed to Miami then he shouldn't get THE STANDARD home visit from the head coach every recruit should get? What's wrong with you people?

What's funny is that if Richt never did an inhome visit, there would be a ton of posters on here screaming that he was being lazy, being complacent, etc etc etc.

Actions speak. If they keep taking cross country flights to talk to him they must be a little concerned that he's susceptible to a flip.

I'm not reading the rest of the foolishness beyond Chise's post. Richt and Kool are going to see him for a reason. Cross country recruits are always susceptible to want to stay closer to their families.

Chise - these rookies and fools do not learn.

Do I think he flips? No. But I bet there is some west coast recruiting guru waiting with emojis to mock Pete if he does (like Pete mocks everyone else).

I agree with you. Except don't mention "process" please LOL
The strange thing is, some posters here who were following recruiting since the turn of the century making statements like this could indicate coaches fear of a flip! So the HC should scrap his only allowed visit to the kid otherwise it will look like the HC is worried about the commitment of the kid.

Some of you shouldn't follow recruiting. Y'all mad our coaches is visiting our top recruit for an in home visit which is by the way Richts ONLY in home visit with the family and kool hasn't been out there since December... chill out... quit being so **** pessimistic

Who said anything about being mad?

What the fück do we have a forum for if we can't ask question?
Broke gets emotional when the other posters don't act as tough as he wants them to act. He demands that we all assume every commit is unflippable.

Or tries to attack posters as if he's not usually the one asking stupid cvnt questions 90% of the time.

brockolli is emboldened because his hard hat, thick callouses, tough guy schtick is getting upvotes.

He's used to getting downvoted on everything he posts. Now dummies are looking to brockolli for the "you pvssies need to quit worrying about flips and firm up your shoulders" line of horseshyt to keep them feeling strong.

Exactly. These dummies are busy rallying behind their fearless leader brockolli and his tough-talking routine.

No one with a brain thinks DJ is definitely flipping, but there's a reason Kool has been to see him 3 times across the country in the last month.

Some of these fake tough guys are too caught up in their false bravado to pay attention to actions. Kool and Rick are sweating DJ's commitment to the end because I'm guessing he was much closer than the tough guy crew wants to admit to flipping a few weeks ago.

He's 100 percent solid. How many times do you all need assurances?

Why do you take the visit as "assurance"? Head coaches allowed to do one in home visit to every recruit, committed or not. Richt never visited their home in Sacramento until now. So, you want Richt to forfeit his allowed visit chance to spend time with the family and increase the bond with them and let the competing head coaches visit them and put pressure on them unopposed?

Treating your commits like they don't matter after they commit is how they get flipped.

Daily phone calls, FaceTime whatever is not treating them like they don't matter. We're like 2 weeks out and this kid has been a lock for a while now.

I just don't see the point like another poster said. The kid should tell the staff to go after guys that are still on the fence.

No 18 year old kid is ever truly solid until they sign, especially kids like this that are getting attention from everywhere.

We all loved our girlfriend when we were 18, as long as we were getting it in on the regs and hotter girls weren't in the picture.

Best I've seen in a while and the most truthful too

And why not check out other prospects on the West Coast while they're at it as well. Shore up a commitment and visit legit prospects in a talent-rich state sounds like a good way to spend your resources.

Because there are positions in high demand that we don't have anyone commited to. I would think that would be more of a priority.

But like I said, I don't understand the entire recruiting process.
The way I see it is like this...

As a college student, in preparation for my finals, I'm going to focus less on the classes I already know I passed even with a bad exam grade. I will focus more on the classes that I could possible fail or receive a lower grade in.

If DJ was at least in the region I would understand, but the kid is 6/7 hours away 3 different time zones and supposedly a lock.

Edit: at this point in this recruiting cycle, we know what we need and we know who we're going for..we're not about to fly to the other side of the country to visit some other prospect two weeks out.

Only relevant part of that post

This post ranks up there too-lol

How many times have brown went to go see McFarland? Like 3 times since December...

Kool visited dj the first week of December and that's when dj sent that tweet out that 100% cane tweet out. The next week when kool went out there again to visit hunter echols he also stopped by to see dj Johnson again.... now that dj Johnson's official visit with Miami has passed richt and kool is visiting dj. This is richts first and only in home visit with dj... stop making something more than what it is

OK. So what? What does that prove? You're making my point for me.

Brown is recruiting his *** off because McFarland is not a sure thing. Or is it your opinion that DJ and McFarland are at the same level of commitment to UM and we don't really need to recruit McFarland either because he's 100% locked in even though he hasn't committed?

Meant to say since December. Remember when kool visited dj Johnson the first time in December he had just come off a few official visits including Washington and USC , and someone supposedly had sent a weird post from a Facebook account indicating that there was something brewing between him and Washington after the visit at the end of November. When coach kool visited in December he staved any momentum Washington thought they had and dj had been all Miami since. Dj has since communicated with Washington staff and told them he's solid with Miami and shutting down his recruitment. His parents are all on board now

Who said he has? McFarland hasn't. I don't buy into the silent commitment nonsense.
