@ByTimReynolds: People I speak with are very much leaning toward plus. “@EvanT80: Miami + or - 4 scholarship losses from the NCAA?”

Not clear what he's saying. Does he mean it could be less than four or more than four?
If so, he's not saying anything.
By the way, what's the next step? The NCAA issues penalties (or decides not to)? When is that supposed to happen?

Looks like Reynolds is being asked his opinion on whether Miami is going to be assessed more or less than 4 scholarship losses a year and Reynolds replies that his sources are indicating that it will be more than 4.

The ncaa is a joke. Miami should sue if we even get 4 per year. Didnt oregon lose like 1 ******* ship.

I posted a link to a thread on one of the 247 boards a couple of days ago in which Luke Stampini talked about how us self imposing scholarship reductions, recruiting visits, player contact restrictions, ect. will probably help lessen the blow of any punishment handed down by the Ncaa. Hopefully, just like it recently announced Montana penalties for similar infractions, this will be the case.

I read it as a total number of scholarships. I guess we will see. OSU received 3 a year and were ****s to the NCAA

I'm reading it as 4 being the total number plus or minus.......

2 over 2 or 1 over 4?

More than likely 1 over 4 so the NCAA can make the punishment linger on for a while......

The NCAA should write a letter of apology to us and the entire college football nation for being a corrupt - and worse - incompetent body of bureaucratic asshats. And grant Miami an extra 4 scholarships per year for the next three years.

Obviously I kid but in all seriousness, Emmert, being the f*ckwad blowhard that he is, and feeling cornered by critics, will hit us with something.

I read it as total, and it will be over 4. Anything over 12 total I think we appeal, and then if the appeal isnt in our favor we sue

This is ridiculous and I don't know why but I don't have a good feeling about the sanctions..

One of the investigators who worked on the ncaa's inquiry of Miami athletics wrote a letter on behalf of a convicted felon who stole millions to have his sentence reduced and get this---- hire him as a consultant!

ncaa president mark emmert found out that ameen najjar manipulated the investigation by hiring shapiro's attorney, maria elena perez, and having her use subpoena power under the auspices of an unrelated federal bankruptcy case and coerce testimony under the threat of imprisonment. The ncaa has no subpoena power. This was their way of establishing "a lack of institutional control."

Time served; probationary "conditions": limited visits, phone calls, etc.

We'll know soon enough what the penalties will be but a "Lack of Institutional Control" will not sit well with Donna Shalala. Probation is a given and a loss of scholarships probable with some restrictions in recruiting. I think the loss of additional bowl games is still a real a possibility but I hope Donna Shalala fights that with vigor.
