This is a post where I get all emo on you guys. Just deal with it and read.

Some guy all jammed up about the Alamo said:
If anyone wishes to depart under the white flag of surrender, you may do so now. You have that right. But if you wish to stay here with me in the Alamo, we will sell our lives dearly.

The Orange Bowl was our Alamo. We all saw some amazing **** in that building. Wide Rights, Wide Lefts, epic comebacks, and demoralizing heart breakers. Everything happened at that place. At a moments notice you could be going ape **** over some unreal play and you would begin to feel the place start to sway back and forth.

There was no better example of that than this moment...

This was from the 1994 game against Florida St. Those of you who weren't there have probably seen the video and/or heard someone talk about this moment before. FSU is pinned deep near their own goal line...which happens to be in front of the the West End Zone. Danny Kannell drops back to pass and tries to hit that no talent bum Kez McKorvey, but is picked off by Carlos Jones. Carlos Jones houses it.

It might have been the single loudest moment ever in the 700 year history of that building. The crowd went completely insane. The noise factor was increased to the infinite power by the simple fact that it took place right in front of the closed-off West End Zone. You can't even hear the marching band play the fight song, just the faint sounds of what must be a bass drum. All because it's being drowned out by the collective sound of 75,000+ people losing their **** at the exact same time. The best description I've read about this moment was from LuCane who described it as lighting a match and dropping it into pool of gasoline.

Watch it for the first time or again for the millionth time:

That is what the West End Zone and the Orange Bowl was all about. The place was a ******* madhouse from start to finish. We miss the Orange Bowl everyday. But Sun Life is and can be the same thing. It just needs it's first signature win. A night where we all look at each other and say, "OMG, can you ******* believe that ****?"

Saturday night would be it.

So I have a simple request to all of those who are fortunate enough to go to the game Saturday night, remember the Orange Bowl. Remember what you saw there. Remember how you acted. Remember how loud you screamed. Remember how great you felt going to the games. And for god sakes stand up the whole ******* night and scream your *** off.

It would have wanted that.

That building is gone, but the spirit remains. In us.

Wow simply amazing!!! Can't believe an historic place like that was let go. I was not fortunate enough to go during those times as I was only a sophmore in high school. But I was able to go to a few games before the old girl was knocked down..

I truely believe Golden can get us back to the top.. But it's gonna take everybody's effort... The City, Fans, The University, Coaches, Players, and future recruits have to be on board with Big Al. If he is given enough time in this impatient world we now live in, I know he will get the job done!!.

It's great to be a MIAMI HURRICANE!!!!!!! I will be here till the end.. Win or lose,, ride or die!

Hurricane til I die..

I wanted my ashes sprinkled on that field.

Still holding out hope the Marlins do absolutely horribly and dip town on the city 6 or 7 years down the road and leave the city holding the bag....literally.

Dear Lord...give me justice.

Great post, good sir. Last time the OB got a fraction that loud was the '07 Texas A&M Thursday nighter.

I blame Donna Shalala for letting them tear down the OB.

right, her fault. peoples republic of the city of miami (which owned it) had NOTHING to do with it. A renter should invest millions of dollars when the owner wont. makes sense. You are smart.

Whats up w all her "political connections?" That didn't help us at all save the OB.

Under Donna Shalala -

1.) Orange Bowl Demolished
2.) We go from National Champs to National Chumps
3.) Paul Dee, Kirby Hocutt, Eichorn, who else?
4.) Larry Coker
5.) Randy Shannon
6.) Nevin Shapiro and the NCAA investigation

Donna Shalala hasn't done anything for Miami football.

I blame Donna Shalala for letting them tear down the OB.

I'm not much of fan of what Donna has done for football, but let's keep this thread focused on one thing:

I was seated in the closed end of the OB that night in '94, what an amazing moment that was. I think the only moment that comes close for me is Hester's KO return against the Gators. **** I miss the OB.

I feel OP's sentiment, but Son Life just isnt the same. The acoustics make it seem louder than it is, but the stands are so far from the field it doesnt matter.

I'll be there Saturday though. Gonna get real obnoxious. Just hope to God we can find a way to make a game of it.

Remembering the Ole Lady..... What fond memories of her I have..... I have to say that I was lucky enough to have sat within her womb for around 50 games over the years and what cheers & tears she brought me....... On the evening that we laid her to rest November 10th, 2007 I couldn't leave without taking something from her......

Mrs. Peruche & I sat in these seats for many of seasons...... They now hang in my home office were I get to enjoy everyday.......

As I said in another thread, 1994 was my favorite Miami-FSU game, and Carlos Jones' pick 6 was the loudest I ever heard the OB.
