We signed the 3rd, 4th, 7th and 15th ranked players at one position in the same class

And none of them really made an impact here at all. Recruiting is such an odd thing

Was that Radio’s class?
Nah, it was the 2004 class. All running backs. Charlie Jones, Bobby Washington, Andrew Johnson and Derron Thomas. Jones Hirt his ankle his senior year at South Dade and was never the same. UM admissions flagged Washington’s grades and he wasn’t allowed to enroll during the fall so him and mother threw a fit and transferred to NC State, they moved him to safety and he ended up just down the road from me at EKU. Johnson was fast as **** but had nothing else, got buried on the depth chart and transferred to Pitt I think. Thomas was the epitome of a greentree all American. Every summer we heard how he was ripping through our d for multiple long touchdowns only to rarely ever see the field in a game

Was that the same year we got Moore and Akeem Jolla at WR? Both top 5 or so WRs (per ratings) and neither did **** here.

That class was 2 years before. It was the same class we initially signed Hester in as well.

Moore could’ve been an all time great. Just had his issues. He was one of the more talented WRs we’ve ever had

How about that awesome Miami Northwestern class? Gave Radio #1 class in the country. Stunk overall.

Sean Spence was excellent. Jacory Harris had a lot of good moments and quite a bit of bad. Streeter one decent season. The remainder blew chunks.
No love for Buchanan?

Edit: never mind, realized you were only referring to the MNW kids

Telemaque was a good player and Travis Benjamin and Brandon Harris were pretty **** good here.

The 2004 also had willie Williams. That has to be one of our most disappointing classes we’ve signed. I think it’s a toss up between it and Radio’s 2008 class

You are right, but except for Spence, he was better (at UM) than the other two lbs we landed that class.

Arthur Brown ended up being nice at Kansas State, but was a no show here.

Brown was a Greentree monster here, Randy just wouldnt play him because Glenn Cook was Randy's favorite.

Brown's talent was undeniable. Great guy too. He should have been starting from Day 1, and he showed that by becoming an All-American at K-State

Brown and Willie Williams has similar issues. Both were great talents and played off of feel and Randy wanted them more regimented in their play and subsequently played guys that played their assignments correctly but couldn’t make the play when they were in position.

Evaluations were also not nearly as accurate as today’s.

They've gotten better, but not that much. They still miss lots of studs and they still highly rank guys that end up busts.

There are just too many players across the country for the so-called experts to thoroughly evaluate. And football prospects are much harder to evaluate than say basketball players. It doesn't take much special ability to know that a Shaq, Lebron, Kobe, et al are going to be studs. But football players can to a certain extent be "hidden" depending on where they play.

Coker’s ‘04 class was truly what killed the program. 30+ kids and only 1 became a legit player at UM (Campbell). One. ONE! It is astounding because that class was a top 3 class in the country. And it was the single worst class ever at UM. The dead wood on our roster from that class has never been addressed, moreover. Through Pricht era. Just too many empty seats and lack of competition.

Randy D’Onofrio!

The fact that I knew the answer right away shows my age.

Same Dutch that went away for a bit?
