Reflections on Signing Day 2016

Our "core" talent can compete with FSU and Clemson. Problem is we dont have the "quality" depth they have. SColey goes down and we literally dont have a legit #1 WR anymore. One or two injuries along the LB core and that "top LB class in the country" will have to prove that.

We might have to put red jerseys on all our DBs during the Spring. Depth is scary.

The core is great though. We have zero injuries and this is DEFINITELY a 10 win team.

This is so true and I believe one of the main reasons you see teams like Washington state all of a sudden have a great year is because they have few injuries.

BTW Washington State had ZERO injuries entering the bowl game against us . Not sure how they managed that minor miracle but it played a huge part in their win no doubt.

Looking at the highlight films two things jump out at me:
1) this class seems to have more speed and quickness at every position than the last few
2) the linebackers seem to be very physical, not only when making tackles, but when getting off blocks.

So far, not bad.

Excited about the WRs if the all are able to get in and qualify.

Richt is is licking his chops.

This class has bright spots for sure but as a whole, it's def lacking to help with our depth issues. Especially when trying to compete with Clemson and FSU.

I see ppl on here talking about recruiting So. Fla mainly but those kids down there aren't very loyal and will drop the home team in a minute. Kids from Georgia, Louisana, Cali and Texas take pride in playing for their home team regardless of how well they are playing.

Hopefully winning happens quickly because that's def part of the problem too.

what depth issues except at cb and wr the depth is great. we have 10 ol guys who played last year coming back plus bar milo and a few otehs who redshirted. yes want 3-4 ol a year but golden had 0 ol guys commited. to get one at this late a date was a miracle. same at dt.

dt depth is solid, jenkins, moten, norton( a stud in making) , willis another possible stud, mcintosh , fines thats good depth and add martin.

cb yea bit thin agree. losing byrd hurts for depth purposes but elder, redwine would of started anyways, young could be solid nickel , jackson , mayes, is an ok group of cb's not great but won't kill us with elder at one spot he has shut down potential.

wr thing but i liek coley, berrios, cager, lewis, langham, richards, mullins and bruce as a wr group want more because richt wants to run h is spread passing attack from fsu not his 21 run from georgia but is a solid group of wr's de is loaded lb added 3 great ones to what had to help depth.

the truth is was never gonna be a great class no transition class is. not even saban had a top 10 transition class but its a solid base to work from with some huge studs 17 is gonna be huge for recruiting and on field success which i believ is coming.

this is best coaching staff miami has had since butch. lets be honest butch wouldn't of even done this well.

richards can become a number 1 and lets be honest a great qb can make an avg wr look good. cager by the way has number 1 dominant wr written all over him. everyone wanted him last year. coley and cager, with njoku, herndon at te give miami 4 guys who can be really good at wr. richards is a year 1 contributer ala calvin ridley and by end of year may be best wr on team bruce is gonna be a huge slot guy for us. the wr's depth is fine. its just young.

It's better than last years class for sure. Good overall talent for a small class. I feel best about the LB's, but outside of that there's a bunch of guys where I like the potential, but don't feel there's any surefire studs. Would've like to have seen CMR get some more National Recruits into the fold late, but flipping Richards back was good. No OL in this class is gonna end up hurting in the future. I give the class a B.

Guys we still can get JUCO guys

Sure but the quality JUCO guys aren't typically just sitting around after NSD. They're typically recruited throughout the process and sign with a program today. Maybe we can get lucky and find an overlooked JUCO CB. But, it's not like the top tier JUCO CBs are out there waiting for us to come calling

but JUCO guys don't need to be superstars we need capable depth. There are hundreds of JUCO schools, you mean to tell me you can't find 3-4 capable guys

they got 1 ol guy in tre johnson a 6-8 280 lb tackle. its not great but golden had 0 guys commited and scott and them never got one and miami was scrambling for ol guys late and it didn't work out.

Look for Searles to be in AH a lot next year visiting Slaton and Herbert

i look for him to go after every top lineman in florida. one of my best quotes from richt is everyone on staff will recruit here. they are gonna know were are in dade.broward. palmbeach. area. cb/ wr/ ol need 4 next year. rb need 2, are areas of need.

i expect guys who were leavign state to start staying also. i see a top 5 class and at least 4 top ol guys mulitple top cbs multiple 4 star rbs to come to miami in 17.

richt did a great job with what little time they had. can't wait to see what they can do with a full year. look for them to start to slowly lock down southflorida talent they really want.
